One of my colleagues is a surgeon in the emergency unit of the hospital (not sure how you call it in english but i hope that's it). He told me that these past 10 years, especially at night during weekends, he is seeing an increasing number of women coming in need of emergency care due to sex/ bdsm injuries. My ex strangled me once and threatened to kill me. I had proof in the form of an admission. I filed for a restraining order. He was able to convince the court that this happened during sex (it didn't) and it was consensual.

I think we need to look at the pornography industry and how it went from being severely controlled by laws -- even porn sent via mail where no one could see it was criminal -- to being totally normalized. Who normalized pornography? Who insisted on including pornography in films targeted towards children and teens?

"Consensual" violence in a boxing match or other martial arts also doesn't get prosecuted, even if one of the athletes gets injured. Just as an example.

I think we need to work on the fact that many women who engage in BDSM practices did in fact NOT give informed consent and were manipulated, pressured, coerced etc. into giving consent or were not in a position to give consent in the first place (because they were too young, intoxicated, had mental health issues that prevented them from being able to give informed consent etc.) and had/have no power or opportunity to safely withdraw consent when they want to.

I mean how many women in that scene actually knew what they were getting into from the beginning? How many are reacting to childhood trauma or other abuse? How many have been manipulated, gaslit or pressured by their partner (aka "if we don't try this I will leave you") or the media (he's not abusive, he's just kinky! don't kinkshame! Nobody has vanilla sex anymore and you are a prude for wanting it!) into thinking this is a normal thing to do and ask for in a relationship?

I don't know. I also don't get it, that if a total stranger punched you or grabbed your boobs or spit on you - they'd be charged but for assault but if it's your husband, it's ''domestic violence'' and ignored. To me, it should be the same as any other assault or even worse, because this person is actually supposed to be caring about you.
I was actively turned away from the copshop after being beaten up by a partner. But when my boobs were grabbed by a total stranger, the cops were chasing me to make a statment (same copshop) to which I said - I didn't think you cared about stuff like this. ''We take this very seriously", was their answer. Really? Could have fooled me.
I was way more traumatised by being king hit in the head multiple times and needing a CT Scan than I was by some druggo, grabbing my boobs in a busy shopping centre but they treated one as if I was a bother and refused to take a statment and the other done by a stranger as serious.
