Definitely don't ask him. Just leave him alone is my advice. This pandemic is really bringing out the LV in guys who were hiding it well before. It could be any number of things, but you can't chase him. You're going to have to let him go for now. If and when you hear from him again, don't immediately respond. Give it a couple days like "Oh, almost forgot we were a thing". Don't say that of course. It's implied. If it takes him days to respond to that then you have your answer. It's over.

There's no way to do it that's going to give you the "closure" you're looking for. A fading guy is just going to deflect and then continue to fade. It sucks, but there's just nothing to do.

Your only option is to just assume it's over and stop contacting him. If he contacts you, I'd barely respond, if at all. Trust me, he'll know why.

This guy ghosted you basically. Just forget he ever existed and move on. Don’t text or chat him up. Just ghost back. He will come back after quarantine like a zombie like nothing ever happens and if you have even a shred of self respect you’ll never give him another minute of time.

If he wants to talk to you he will reach out to you, you've done your bit and all you can do right now. If he's not talking to you assume he doesn't want to or intend to and try to distract yourself from thinking about him.
