I haven't dated one myself but my dad is a good example. He comes home and washes dishes after dinner with my mom. Mops the floors every Friday and buys her flowers every week. They've been married happily for almost 30 years and he's technically my step dad. Btw my mom doesn't work

I saw a elderly lady struggling at the grocery store. My guy got out and offered help. Turns out, she was from out of town and didn't know how to open the trunk of her rental to put her groceries in. He loaded them for her, and then showed her how to do it so she could get them out. Kindness with no selfish agenda. I was so proud of him.

We just had our first snow too. The week before, the guy I’m dating, saw it on the news and bought a cord of wood for my house. Today while I was at work it started snowing. When I got home my parking spot was shoveled, a fire was built, and the heated fitted sheet was turned on warming up the bed. He was already in bed waiting so we could nap together.

Making sure you arrive home safely, including offering to go out of their way if they detect your situation is unsafe or uncomfortable (bad weather). I have some very HV guy friends that extend the same courtesy they do to me as they do to their wives and gfs (who are lovely and seem to be genuinely happy partners). What I also enjoy is that I have developed actual great relationships with their spouses/gfs because they aren’t insecure and realize that some of these friendships I have with their men stem back to childhood or are family-connected. They see me as a fellow woman and not a threat. It’s allowed me to develop a very deep and quality circle of friends where everyone is involved and no “my wife said I can’t come play” bullshit.

Went to a hockey game a few weeks ago, and woman in the front row had an emotional support dog. Some sort of chihuahua mix that just shouldn’t be at a hockey game. The poor creature was PANICKING... I mean, hockey games are loud & those guys are constantly slamming into the glass right in front of this dog.

This man I’m dating noticed the dog in distress- panting like crazy.. and went and got it a cup of water.

I like dogs more than most humans. But this move really made me like this human.

I've been sick as a fucking dog and my husband

did some chores that I was going to do after my nap, without me asking
went out and got us dinner without asking because he knew I was going to try to cook something and shouldn't be allowed near a stove
got out of bed early to drive me to work even though he didn't need to be at work till noon.

HVM like to take care of and support other people, not because they are trying to "get something" or get brownie points or trick you, but because they just generally feel it is the right thing to do and they want to live in a way that aligns with their values. HWM are inherently unselfish.

Late to the thread but my husband is the best husband. He does the laundry, is my sous-chef in the kitchen, makes me tea every morning, carries everything when we're out, and even cleans the litterbox. He's extremely attentive in public too, and I have talked to many other women who seem super envious of us. I'm very happy I gave him a chance 10 years ago....best decision ever.
