2017 - I'm working on a job and I find some plans related to the work in the teams shared office. I'm not sure some of my friends at work had seen them so I take a photo and send it on messenger. Make a joke about how the managers are so over run they couldn't even circulate this sort of info themselves. Something like "why I had to go and Harriet the spy out this info is beyond me"

2018 - I'm on a new contract, new location, alot of the same crew have joined the job. We've all known eachother over a year and even lived together for some remote work. One of these old workmates introduces me to her boyfriend of seven years who has recently joined the team. I tell him I've heard alot about, we all get on. Two weeks into the job, on the weekend, her bf starts texting me. He's asking if I'm alone in the house I was renting with other staff to be near the remote job (I was, and he knew that and that I had no car). He asks if I'm not missing him. He says not to hide behind my intelligence, that I don't need to because he already finds me beautiful. He says people told him we wouldn't get on because I'm a bully, but he doesn't believe them. That he thinks we have a connection. So much to unpack in his approach. Jesus. I was 23, he was 32. I couldn't believe the audacity, I kept trying to redirect the conversation, give him an out. I'd have to keep working with him after all. When he was still texting me into Sunday, I blocked him. I was friends with his gf ffs. Cop on. On Monday I told her, and for the rest of the job he never addressed me again. Unfortunately when I told her, she made a sigh which communicated years of apologizing for him and justifying his actions. Told me she'd been sick in bed, and he'd spent the weekend getting drunk in the kitchen.

2019 - I'm on a new job again. (Nature of the work, different companies, different contracts. Like musical chairs). Unbeknownst to me, this man emailed the company I worked for in 2017 and said "somebody leaked company information from that job, I won't say who. I thought you should know." The 2017 job was highly vetted. This email meant an investigation had to be done. Eventually, it was worked out that I supposedly was the breach. When they saw the info in question the reaction from the company director was essentially "why the fuck is my time being wasted on this? She took a photo of info which was later pinned to the notice board" I was not present for any of this. Well my old supervisor came through, he knew me well. (I was living with him in 2018 when this went down. He was the first home after all the weird texts and I confided in him at the time.) He told my old boss: "that email was sent because that man has an issue with her because he's a predator, and she rejected him." Ultimately, said predator made a tit of himself trying to fuck with me A YEAR AFTER HE HAD LAST SEEN ME. I didn't even know about it. I was on another job with another company 200 hundred miles away.

Present day - I'm finishing up a job and my old supervisor happens to be here too. In applying to see where contracts are available for the end of the month. I write to my old boss. Common practice in my line of work to move back and forth between companies as positions open and close. I hear nothing back for a week. I ask my old supervisor if he's heard anything from them. I find out about the malicious email and baseless accusations.

Even though that pervert had primarily made a tit of himself, I was still embroiled in the whole saga. I'm concerned my old employer has failed to make the distinction necessary to see that although I was associated with bad practice, I was not the instigator. I didn't even become aware of this ridiculous email until two years had passed. People in my profession rely on reputation to keep working. Now it's possible that this ignorant bollocks and his malice have cost me my relationship with one of the most significant employers in my sector. And no I don't admire the employers part in this either, where his attitude is essentially "He's a time wasting liability, and she's probably had a part to play in it too. Why else would someone go so out of their way to tell me she's not trustworthy. Best to give them both a wide berth."

Tl;dr: man I rejected didn't like to hear no, so he spread rumours about me to damage my career.
