Bare minimum for sure, and it may just be me but this feels a bit scripted. He says we're in a world that's finally pointing out the inadequacies of the patriarchy, when feminists have been doing this for a long time. Maybe he means men are finally talking about it? Idk, something about this seems not totally genuine.

I am glad nonetheless to see him speak out.

I don't know if he's coming from a genuine place or not, I do appreciate the sentiment. What worries me is that the yt video of him saying that has probably been shared in red pill spaces and the comment section is flooded with disturbing aggressive red pill comments. I worry about young susceptible people reading that and thinking those creatures are representative of the entire society and are valid in their hostility towards women and Benedict for saying what he said. What was once a dumpsterfire space solely on misogynistic subbreddits is spilling into more mainstream places and it's terrifying.

Did you see the r entertainment thread on this topic? Or the Twitter comments. He was getting shit on so much just for saying something as simple as this.

This reminds me of when Cumberbatch donated, raised money for and advocated for refugees that were trying to enter England in 2014-16 (it was a big political talking point at that time) and used his Hamlet run extensively to raise money and awareness for the cause and conservative media and politicians flamed him so much for it. But he stuck to his guns and guess what, not only did his Hamlet become one of the most popular theatre productions in British history (tickets sold out a year in advance and it was raking in like a few million pounds a week) and he raised more than 2 million pounds for Save The Refugees, he was asked this question again in an interview this year and he reiterated his stance again (it you're from England, you'd probably know the the problem the conservative government started having with RNLI, BC was advocating for them). The Daily Mail has hated him since 2014 for this lmao. Everytime he says anything remotely decent or advocating for equality or human rights or whatever, they'll come up with an opinionated hate article on him lmao.

It's not a lot what he's doing, but he's not wrong and the reactions that men are having to it are basically proving his point.

I have always felt strange about this man.

He said some REALLY fucked up things about autistic people that just left a dirty taste in my mouth.
