LVM are always wondering how to lower the bar. They push boundaries and test expectations in order to figure out what they can get away with. Once they've learned you'll accept poor behavior, it won't stop. Give an inch, LVM will take a mile.

And when they notice your standards are too high for them, they will remove themselves out of the equation.
A timesaver, really.

Yes LVM are not ambitious. Anything that requires too much effort they’ll discard.

No one told me this. I thought it was good to be selfless and put in effort as a woman. Like I was somehow better than high maintenance women. I had no idea men suck so bad that they won’t match your efforts, they’ll take advantage and do bare minimum.

They absolutely will! My LVM ex tried to convince me to accept a small wedding (because he was cheap and didn't want to pay for a nice ceremony) and I found myself agreeing to it because I didn't want him to feel like I was demanding or only valued him for his money. I made myself low maintenance on purpose to make him feel better about being a broke scrote. Guess what? It didn't increase his love for me or make him treat me any better. He actually spent the entire relationship being insecure because he couldn't give me what I wanted and instead of admit this, he tried to make ME lower my standards. Be high maintenance af. It's the only way

I grew up poor. My parents preferred to spend their money on beer, weed, and cigarettes over basic necessities for their families. I grew up being conditioned that not only was it bad to have basic needs, but it was the worst thing I could ever possibly do to want someone else to provide or do things for me. And that followed me into most of my adult relationships. I attracted men who were not only broker than shit, but were unwilling to put in a single iota of effort to make up for that. And I beat the ever living hell up out of myself for being unsatisfied and resentful of them for it. I hated myself for wanting to feel cared for and valued, to the point where I didnt even allow myself to do things for myself.
Fuck that. I genuinely enjoy being high maintenance. I enjoy having my makeup, hair, and nails done. I enjoy cute, fashionable outfits. And I am going to give them to myself because its something that makes me happy, and I DESERVE to be happy. If a man wants to be a part of my life he needs to prove to me that he understands that, and that he appreciates the effort I put into myself. If he doesn't then he can turn around and leave, because I'm not tolerating it anymore.

Wow, I could have written this. My parents didn’t drink or smoke but they had their own version of expensive hobbies while we as kids went without. I’m not sure about you, but there was a lot of gaslighting in my childhood. If I said “I’m thirsty”, it was “no you’re not! You’re fine!” I was always told to suck it up if I expressed a need (not even a want, those didn’t exist). As you can imagine, this creates a dumpster fire when it comes to romantic relationships. I’ve been in so many abusive and toxic relationships. My needs are always below everyone else’s. I didn’t find FDS til I was 32. I’m ready for a new chapter of my life where I put myself first, unless it’s above my son (he’s only 18 months so he can’t care for his own needs). Even with motherhood, I’m learning it’s okay to find childcare for him and let someone else take care of his needs for the day so I can take care of myself. Moms are conditioned just to givegivegive and it’s never enough.

You won’t even get the bare minimum, though. That’s the biggest joke.

Guys need to understand this too: Low maintenance =/= low standards
Just because you're "low maintenance" doesn't mean you don't have high standards.
Just because you don't wear make up doesn't mean you don't take care of your appearance.
Just because you don't drive an expensive car doesn't mean you don't get it maintained regularly.
Just because you rent a tiny, crappy apartment doesn't mean it isn't cleaner and nicer when you move out.
Just because you'd rather have a staycation doesn't mean you aren't still expecting an amazing good time.

Yes, I have always considered myself low maintenance. Everything I do I consider basic human needs. I exercise, eat right, dress nice, yada yada. People that have let themselves go call you high maintenance because they just can’t remember what a real human is supposed to look like.

Facts because even the low bar you set they won’t achieve that so might as well keep those expectations in space sis
