So I agree with the advice posted here that dating during the pandemic is not a good idea. I did recently take a job since the pandemic. Masks are required for everyone. It’s one of the few times I interact with people in public besides essential shopping like grocery.

I’m pretty sure my coworker asked me out. While we were both on a break, he asked me if I would “Want to get pizza with him some time.” I responded by saying that’s not a good idea now due to Covid, and that I would be open to getting food with him and some other work colleagues, but again, not now due to the pandemic. Then I changed the subject to discuss a work issue.

Because we work in different departments and get less hours during the week, I actually haven’t seen him since this happened.

I’m feeling really conflicted about this. Part of me is a bit offended he even tried to ask me out as I’m a coworker, and dating a coworker is often considered a bad idea. However, it is during a pandemic, so none of us have really any socializing opportunities besides work. It’s also possible he was just asking me to get lunch as a friendly work thing and not a date, but honestly, at least my perception of his tone, body language and response when I suggested including other coworkers, made me think he meant it more as a date.

I feel like I don’t really know this guy well enough to vet him yet. And as far as I know so far, he doesn’t use social media at all. He’s not really my type physically, but I’ve really enjoyed his personality so far. We also haven’t seen much of each other at all without a mask. I’m also clearly worried about work professionalism and wouldn’t want to jeopardize that.

I’m wondering how I should respond if he brings it up again, or how I should interact with him moving forward? Before this, he also complimented me, on both my interests and my physical appearance (eyes, as we’re wearing masks, lol). I’m pretty new to this sub, but thought FDS would have some good advice for me.
