The idea isn't at all silly, but as someone who frequents these sorts of events, most of the men are gay or married... Few single men go to events like this...

Go to local social events and venues that aren't "meat markets". Avoid online like the plague. There's no specific place to go for finding HVMs but you can usually spot them in the wild.

Consider volunteer work. I started doing volunteer clean ups for environmental causes and it puts me in contact with really great men - like, it's not even about dating for me anymore, I'm proud to know and be affiliated with people like this, who are passionate and kind. Try also Planned Parenthood and ACLU. Don't be put off if you don't immediately detect single men. Women will connect you with single men if you strike up friendships with them.

Join a yacht club. No guarantee of HVM, but you at least will know that for the most part, it's usually not deadbeats who frequent yacht clubs. Of course, this is better advice if you're on a coast. See also, gokf clubs, rotary clubs.

I started a blog for business reasons. Best thing I ever did because while it is a legit business, it forces me outside my comfort zone and I end up mingling with successful business owners in a way that's organic and enjoyable. And you're already communicating your own value through whatever you're doing for your blog. Make it a foodie blog and meet restaurant owners. Make it a travel blog, and go forth and try to meet people this way. Start a wine blog, golf blig, music blog. Business owners love media attention.

Someone here mentioned running groups. Yes, I know meetups have sketchy, misfit people. Guess what? You can also host your own meetups. Host a yoga group, host a pub crawl, host a treasure hunt. I'll be doing things like that myself. The meetup people are misfits, but I know I can go to a bar and they will stick up for me if shit goes down. There's always a few looking for an easy lay, but dedicated core members will look out for you.

Do single guys really go to those places though? They all seem like something a couple would go do, a guy on his own or with his friends is prob going to go mountain biking or something. I do go to art museums and such, but I only ever see couples, families, or groups of women.

I feel like a normal guy is not going to be a loner- instead he will spend his free time with his male friends who want to go do things that the whole group enjoys, like hiking/camping, wakeboarding, biking, going to a brewery, seeing a band, etc. So I would be skeptical of any guy who is at a play or museum on his own- does he really like it or is he just using it as a way to pick up women? Or does he have no friends? (red flag- a guy with no male friends)

Sorry for rambling but I have thought a lot about this too. I have two friends who met their now husbands through running groups, but that only works if you are into physical activities. But honestly it’s not a bad idea for any of us to get in shape and maybe meet a guy who is into something other than sitting around. I see events all the time for biking and running. And you know any guy who is there is actually into it and not just using it as a way to pick up women because it actually takes effort. I tried going to a meetup group for trivia at a bar and it was all LVM using it to prowl for women bc it takes no effort to go to a bar. It also takes no effort to go to an art museum and strike up convos with all the single women there...

Really put your head in the mind of your ideal hvm, where would he go? What would he do? And go do those things. Think outside the box.
