Yup just listened to a Hidden Brain podcast ep called the "The Lonely American Man". It was really interesting but super sad. Patriarchy has basically built this infrastructure that kind of locks men and women into these boxes and when women change (for the better) men just don't know how to cope.

I always see these “men are happier” studies, but here’s the thing. I think those results really are based on what is still the norm- that a woman takes a lot of shit, taking charge of the emotional, domestic, and childcare labor, and it’s pulling teeth to get a man to participate. Traditionally, women also aren’t so worried about their own orgasms. But! Now things are changing. There is a slow shift to women taking less shit.

And we encourage that here. Yet we also say our power is in the fact that men need marriage more than we do. But again, that’s based on studies of marriage that largely operate on “the old way”. So will most men still find marriage beneficial to them when we stop kowtowing? I’m thinking perhaps not, and men won’t need us anymore than we need them, and marriage- or any commitment- will indeed become harder and harder for a woman to attain. Anyone agree? Will men just dig in their heels and say “No No No, I WON’T!” when it comes to giving up some of their privilege? Sub us out for more compliant, ever more advancing AI options? Or do you think they’ll actually come around to more equitable human partnerships?

Most men can't talk to their friends about anything deep or personal, they practically rely on women to be their personal therapists/sounding boards during times of distress...but here's the thing... if that same man rolls his eyes whenever you have something going on- he is an entitled misogynist plain and simple- he is low quality and he has too much internalised misogyny to ever see you as full a human with feelings and needs like him. He will just feel entitled to keep receiving your thankless 'services' as his very own handmaiden, he sees you as a vacant little doll to stroke his ego on demand & should keep her 'baggage' to herself.

A high value man cares about his woman and is there to reciprocate the TLC she pays towards him, he appreciates the fact she gives him a space to be himself away from the hostility of masculinity & in turn he wants to protect her /keep her well. She knows the real him& for this reason he is happy to go the mile for her because he values the intimacy of that bond. Unfortunately this a straight forward balanced exchange the average joe male cannot comprehend in his tiny limited self absorbed mind, because first they must have first became a real man and learned to value women & what they give...but most men just pretend to, to get what they want. So do not go hard for any man who rolls eyes/switches convo when you have something to get off your mind....pay attention who you give empathy to...not everyone values or deserves it.

Going with this perspective will help you keep treating yourself as a high value women, and you won't allow the first guy who has bare minimum respect woo you into any different. Go in with high expectations and requests of them, if they can't meet that they will remove themselves fairly quickly. But if they know you won't settle for any less and continue to pursue you they will do everything in their power to please to keep you happy and secure their own happiness.
