Wanting connection with other people isn’t succumbing to society’s expectations. Humans are social and meant to live in communion with other people. This, however, is different from craving a relationship with a man at all costs.

I believe it’s important to acknowledge the many non-romantic opportunities for connection and love. When we fill ourselves that way, we can place romantic love with a man in its proper context - as icing and not the cake.

I don’t see anything wrong with holding space and hope for a great relationship as long as you don’t let that keep you from living life to the fullest right now or cause you to start dipping in the LVM pool just to have someone.

This is a scarcity mindset with is not good. All women should work on an abundance mindset.

The best thing that helped me with this was to make the rest of my life so awesome so that any man was an additional “plus” but I wasn’t trying to get anything else out of him (money, an ear to listen, a better apt/house, etc.)

I think it’s pretty natural to want a relationship. Else why would gay people fight so hard for their rights?

You know I mainly don’t want one now. Sometimes I feel the urge to have one but then I feel like I cannot even imagine going through the process of dating. I think one will come along when the timing is right naturally. I haven’t dated in a year. I am slowly becoming more content and happy alone I guess because I realize it might never happen or may take years or decades. So much that I can’t imagine having someone most days. I think it is normal to want one but it’s almost like wanting a fairy tale to be real from my perspective. Of course I want to be a real princess! Of course I want a real prince 🤨.
