Since I’m a teenager, I was already very convinced that I don’t want to marry or have children for various reasons such as seeing all the failed marriages, especially my moms (and her still being married to a NVM) and all the “drama” I encountered from my female friends with their boyfriends. I also knew from an early age that I value my freedom too much to focus my whole life around a child.

Besides having all these arguments and not changing my mind in the slightest since I’m 14 (I’m 22 now) I still get asked when I’ll go and marry, why I didn’t marry yet, why I “waste my best years for eduction” instead finding a “nice” men to have 2-3 kids with. Even my grandparents started to jokingly state that they want to have grand-grandchildren before they die.

I’m just tired. So tired to repeat myself all the time and being always told I’ll change my mind, I didn’t find the right one yet, I’m too selfish and childish etc.

Why is it so hard for people to accept that you know what you want (or not want) and how fucked up it is to be told that your own boundaries can be bend with just “the right person”?

Why am I called selfish and childish for stating that I’m not the type of person who could give a child all the attention and care it needs. How is that even selfish???
