It bothers me to the core. So I made this rule, first time left at read, might be mistake. second time, well I won't be texting the person until absolutely necessary. Third time? Delete his contact.

Getting left on read means he could care less. Don't commit yourself to a guy when you're not even, well, committed to each other. Don't have hopes about some guy based on your fantasies. Have options. A guy who texts you a lot could simply see you as a friend instead of being interested. It's not worth the pain of overthinking. People leave people on read when they don't care. It's like getting a message from someone you don't want to do with, and finding any excuse to have nothing to do with them. Most people won't leave you on read as a mistake. It's usually intentional. Leaving you on read is their version of closure. They've already moved on.

When you are dating someone, and you're investing your time and emotions in them, it definitely grinds to be left on a read receipt if previously they were replying back within 4-5 hours max.

Case in point: I was seeing this guy, completely open about my expectations and I gave him the time of day. But he was flaky as fuck, and his growing disinterest showed in read receipts and ignored texts.

Lesson learnt here is that if someone's treating you like they're not interested, pay attention and act accordingly.

really depends. I do get frustrated when someone says i'll check my schedule and get back to you, and 48 hours go by.... If its a low-effort response, lots of times i won't respond either. ie. me: "how are you?" them: "ok." yep i'm not going to bother to respond. And no, i'm not glued to my phone, but i check it maybe three times a day, or if i hear it. Anyway, this sub is really teaching me that we are the prize!

To be honest, I don't enjoy having long conversations over text and reply slowly. Id rather just catch up in person or talk over a phone call

My now husband was a horrible texter. After we went on our first date (one of the greatest dates of my entire freakin’ life) he dropped me off at home , gave me a quick peck, ran to his car and sped off. I texted him that night to make sure he made it home safe and he left me on read for hours. Literally up until 5 pm the next day. At that point I thought he didn’t like me and of course I was devastated. Turns out he just REALLY sucks at texting. He’s a wonderful man, but can’t text for shit . To this day he still sucks at it. I say see if the guy tries to initiate plans with you more than he texts or if he calls you more often. If he can’t do any of those things to compensate for his lack of texting etiquette, I’d suggest to cut your losses and find a guy who will text you to your heart’s content! 😁

P.S i later found out he drove off so quickly because he had to pee lol

Guy I am seeing used to text at lightening speed all the time. I am not a texter, but felt I had to reply all the time. Month in and our texts have reduced. More check ins and sending pictures of what we are doing.

It annoyed me when he first didn’t read my texts and left me on 2 grey ticks, especially when you Can see he is online. We didn’t chat about it, but he said in conversation that he uses WhatsApp as a tool to send business pictures (own crafts store) and to text his daughter and family abroad . He also seemed to ignore my conversation in text, but will ask me about it when we meet.

He does read them then reply the next day. Or reply immediately if we are arranging things. I think he is just a bad texter as he is nice and attentive in real life.

Remember texting is not a form of validation. It’s just a means to communicate.

Idk, sometimes I'm at work and I check a text but I have to get back to work and just forget to reply. Men are more forgetful and absent minded than women.

This happens especially with memes. When someone sends me a meme, I'll show whoever is around me and then I'll continue talking and whoops, totally forgot to respond.

I rarely text first or text back. Most times, I leave conversations unread just because I feel like it gives me the upper hand and well, I'm a generally busy person. To be fair, I think the same goes for guys too. I guess it's like a power play and we're all busy living our own lives that texting literally makes zero sense now.

It says that he's read it and probably fallen asleep, since our time zones are 14 hours different. I am secure in the knowledge that he will text me or call me when he has the time, and I don't need to be thinking that he's deliberately ignoring me.
