I remember that creep Ian Somerhalder admitted to flushing his wife Nikki Reed’s birth control pills down the toilet because he wanted kids and she wasn’t ready. When people rightfully called him out, he claimed she approved of him doing that.

Not surprising since he played a rapist psychopath on tv a little too well. Nikki was also close friends with his ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev so he’s a super scumbag. And he’s about 10 years older than both women.

Reproductive coercion is hell. I went through it two times, though it were completely different experiences. I'm still in therapy, 12 years later from the first experience.

Reproductive coercion against women has been so common throughout history as a way for men to control women that the United Nations had to classify it as a human rights violation. And nowadays men project it as something done against then even though thats a small percentage to the amount they do it. Pretty much anytime birth control fails or condoms don't work men will say they were trapped as a way to remove all responsibility from themselves.

My coworker told me her husband finished inside her after they agreed he wouldn't because he really wanted a kid. That's how they conceived their first child. She had to be pregnant while in nursing school. She didn't find out until after her son was born.

I told her how fucked up that is, but she loves her son so she doesn't care... At least that's what she says now.

So this is actually not uncommon.

My advice is to not tell men if you are on birth control pills. You should be having them wear a condom anyways to help reduce the chance of getting an STD. Some guys will take it off or poke holes but not telling them about the pills give you the safety of being on the pill, and him not even knowing you have pills for him to tamper with or take away. Even in committed relationships, people can change or try to baby trap you into getting pregnant so they can keep you.

The IUD is another option but my dr said I'd be back to having my usual heavy and extremely painful periods. So the IUD wasn't a great option for me. I like the pill to reduce the periods down to spotting with hardly any pain and discomfort. But please use a condom anyways!

Edit: wanted to add that its a good idea to know about plan b as an option if you get stealthed or he comes in you when you didn't want him to. Its rape. You should go to the hospital. Otherwise you can get plan b and you should know what stores are open when (since covid made stores have reduced hours). You may even want to keep plan b on hand if its hard to get to the store.

This is why I'm glad I had an IUD when I was dating my ex. He wanted kids so bad he would threaten to rip my IUD out to get me pregnant and he refused to wear condems. There isn't a doubt in my mind that he would've fucked with my pills if I had chosen that as my method.
