As someone who breastfed and pumped, in your first 4 months, your breasts will engorge and hurt (and possibly get really painful blocked milk ducts) if you don’t get the milk out of it every few hours. So even if father of the baby was doing all the bottles, mother would still be woken up by breast discomfort every 2-3 hours and pump just to get some relief.

Please believe that if men were the ones who breastfed, we would have had the funding to create portable breast pumps that suction and store the milk out of your boobs on a timer while you sleep. Our newer breast pumps still feel like so much work and inconvenience compared to where the rest of our technology has progressed.

Growing up, I always knew I wanted to be married and have a happy marriage, and also knew from single digits I never wanted kids. I took a long, hard look at this again in my 20s, and kept finding stuff just like this, so big no thanks. If someone actively wants kids and has that strong vocation for it, then go for it... but realize it is all uphill, a hell of a lot of work and labor, and it never ends. Thanks, I prefer sleep, sex, travel, and doing whatever the hell I want.

She breastfeeds. So no matter what she was going to be up every 2-4 hours to feed baby or pump.

I wish I knew what that was like. I wanted to breastfeed but my buds were duds. Bottles only it was.
