What "Wife-y" things do you avoid doing?

Good list. I cringe to think of the times I’ve done some of those things. I no longer tidy up nor do I cook. I make a point not to stay over at any man’s house that isn’t clean. Thankfully, I haven’t had that issue in a very long time. And I’ve outgrown the need to show a man I can cook in order to be worthy of a relationship.

And I’ll only live with a man if he’s footing the bills. That limits the pool exponentially and I have no qualms with it whatsoever.

I think the most important one is to never sacrifice your (non-relationship) life goals for a boyfriend (or guy you're dating). If he wants her to put "us" before "her" then he can put a diamond ring and half his shit on the line.

That said, I like cooking for people. I cooked for for guys fairly often in my single days. But cooking together as a date is different than the daily food slinging I do for my family now. That is total wife/mommy shit, and way less fun; don't do that for a boyfriend.

Set up appointments for them (doctor, dentist, etc.). Definitely don’t do that if you’re not living together, but I recommend avoiding it anytime. No one’s making my appointments and holding my hand through life, he can learn how to be a grownup on his own. (My ex asked me to do this and I’m still irritated about it, obviously.)

Reminding him of his obligations. You do not have to keep a mental checklist of everything he needs to do. If he forgets to make his car payment then he’s going to learn to write it down next time rather than if you remind him again and again. It only enables him and puts you in a position to do emotional labor just because you’re better at remembering or making check lists than he is.

Don’t pay his debts!!!!!!

Lol seems simple but every damn boyfriend before my current one, I did this so that they could stop using it as an excuse to not do things for me. But with those kinds of guys, they just see weakness and take advantage.

Even if you’re eating too, don’t cook for him. My principle is: men want to be considered leaders. Fine. A leader initiates everything though. I‘m not gonna do anything for him if he hasn’t done it for me first.
