I think the word "demanding" is difficult to internalise in ourselves as women because we're taught that women should be polite and quiet so shifting to that mindset can be quite difficult. Anyone have any advice/tips on moving to this mindset and what sort of situations do women find themselves in where they should be demanding more respect?

No, basic good manners and being a decent person dictates that you always treat people with respect. Even when someone pisses you off, you don't stoop to their level and you keep it civil, unless it's warranted self-defence. I expect the same from HVM.

Bragging about treating people like shit until they "earn" your respect is such a presumptuous position. Who does he think he is that he expects people to prove themselves to him until he treats them as human beings? It's a trashy attitude, it sounds like teenage boys who took their concept of respect from rappers. It's such an immature and low value way to think.

People need to "earn" things that require a significant sacrifice, not basic human decency.

This is important for all women to realise. Any woman who has been disrespected by a man needs to respond with either cutting off his access to her, or limiting it significantly depending on the act. That being said, if you have to question whether you are being respected, you aren't and he isn't worth your time. Life is too short to put up with bullshit.

We women have to understand that men see women through the lens of how men treat men. Men resolve conflict through brute force. When a man cowers, it's an invitation to kick a man when he's down. A man has to EARN respect from another man by throwing a punch. We are smaller and generally weaker, so we have to do it in our own way.

There is no such thing as earning respect, the same way there's no way to make someone fall in love with you. You either love them or you don't. You either respect someone or you don't. What you can do to someone who clearly disrespect you is to make sure they don't cross your boundaries, pay consequences if they do and leave asap.
