Hello, so this subreddit is fairly new, and so far I think it has a lot of room to grow. I suggest a great first step is to get a high-profile public figure to join us for a nice little AMA.

Anyway, I would like to collaborate with some people in this subreddit and critically read Dr. Farrell and Dr. Gray's book, The Boy Crisis: Why Our Boys Are Struggling and What We Can Do About It. I've been exchanging emails with Dr. Farrell and I think he would be interested in doing an AMA, and I've also been trying to get him to appear on Joe Rogan's podcast and other outlets. I hope that with a few of us reading this book together, we will produce some high-quality and thought-provoking questions to ask. I'm sure we can get in touch with him to do the AMA, and perhaps the mods can assist in reaching out. I suggest we schedule the AMA further out so that more people have time to get through the book, take notes, research his sources, etc.

We don't have to limit this AMA to just this book. We can also have him answer questions about things from The Myth of Male Power, Why Men Are the Way They Are, or anything about his findings and career experience. Alternatively, if the mods prefer, we can try and schedule a trilogy of AMAs and split up categories.

I propose we do the AMA during the last weekend of September. That should be plenty of time to reach out and make arrangements around his busy schedule and for plenty of readers make their way through his book(s), compile questions, and get everything in order. I'm a veteran of the U.S. Army, and so suicide is one of those things that hit close to home. It's tragic to hear about great men and women who have overcome so much, only to sacrifice themselves to their pain. I'm also trying to get a campaign started up to help reduce suicides all across the board, not just veterans and servicemembers.

Subreddits such as /r/MensRights, /r/MGTOW, and if they would choose to participate /r/MensLib (I doubt they would, but you never know). I believe each of these subreddits will bring different types of perspective to the discussion, and this diversity of thought can prove to be thought-provoking for everyone in this subreddit. The mainstream media is unfortunately quiet about The Boy Crisis, and I think this subreddit is a great way to begin asking the golden question: why do boys who hurt, hurt us?

We can also use this thread as an opportunity to brainstorm other AMA ideas. Perhaps inviting John Gray and hearing more about his findings on (for example) ADHD and Ritalin.
