I am curious what others think of this... Based on various sources I have been seeing lately there is a lot of talk about how men need to step up and do better socially, politically and economically. The issue I have with this is that although I don't disagree there are areas where men need to improve; men are still expected to uphold to traditional roles and potentially better than they used to. On top of that men are being expected to split skills and responsibilities that were previously considered feminine roles. Yet men have little to no social support or resources to accomplish that. In-fact men can still be punished for trying to do that.

This leaves me with the impression that "Stepping up" or "Step Up" is a revised version of "Man Up" with a new label. It may potentially be even worse because it has even more expectations piled on top of what was previously expected of men resulting in more struggles, pressure and stress.

But what do you all think of this analysis ?
