In a lot of Reddit discussions on gender, we see talk about a "compliment gap" between the two genders, especially when it concerns young men and young women.

Today I was complimented by a woman only slightly older than me, a client of mine, who really went out of her way to praise me. My reaction probably showed how unused I am to this - I was flustered, in a happy but slightly embarrassed way - almost shaking even. I hope she thought it was more cute than concerning, although she had done a similar thing the last time we saw each other and I had a similar reaction, so she probably wasn't taken aback too much.

I thought this could be a good opportunity to have a discussion about compliments. Also maybe a good reminder to not forget to give other men compliments as well. I sometimes come across quiet guys in social groups and I want to say something to them, but being an introvert myself, I have this mental block where I don't know what to say and I don't want to create an awkward situation (moreso for the guy's sake than for me), and I end up engaged in conversations with the more extraverted people.

I'll start with complimenting you guys: even though I don't agree with every comment and post on here, I find this subreddit and your contributions to it very interesting and they always give me something to think about.
