When I was 19 my first love left me for no reason. She "wanted some time to think" and never came back. The next 7 years were wasted in depression and sadness. The best years of my life that I should have spent on building myself, studying, getting a career.. I threw them away by being sad and thinking about her every day, every instant. I got kicked out of college because my grades were too low (she left just as we were entering college), I couldn't study and I got kicked out.
I am now 26 years old with nothing, but reading this subreddit made me feel better for some reason.
A man can only love once. At least I am thankful this didn't happen when i have kids and a mortgage to pay.
I hope I can salvage whatever strength I have and build a life for myself before it's too late. I'll never make the same mistake of "loving" a woman again.

it sucks, but at least you did avoid much worse scenarios.
Being a cuck in an unhappy marriage, and you can't leave.
Living where you don't want to live, in a house you don't want to live in, because the neighborhood makes her feel safe.
You live together and throwing her out would be too difficult to unwind each others lives.
You get divorced and ass raped.
You get to see the looks on your children faces from the conversations her lawyer has had with them coaching them to say you sexually abused them.
You writing a check for her lawyer to fuck you up for the next 50 years.
Sleeping on a couch at a friends home in some low end apartment or hotel.
Or if you weren't that lucky, you can sleep in your car, enjoying sciatica pain.
Drinking bottle after bottle of cheap end generic vodka dealing with your life collapsing around you, your children rarely talk to you because they are in therapy for the sexual abuse you clearly heaped on them, just to get an extra $40 in alimony. Which you happily pay for your children to have permanent memories of your sexual assaults.
Dying at 54 from cirrhosis of the liver.

Did you get a prenup? I think for people who still want to marry (even against our advice), it's best they get their own home first then if the woman wants their "own" home, then the guy and lady split the home. Once she derails, the guy still has his first home available to crash at while the court handles the other house.
Problem is, how often do you come across guys who have that? Not many.

Yup, that is the whole idea!
I would still get a pre-nup, just in case. As long as she has never paid or contributed anything into the first home and the title is in your name, it's hands off and 100% yours. That goes for any other property you accumulated before meeting the woman.

I think a lot of people just want to give positive advice. but relating is powerful as well.
You know, time heals all wounds may not be true, but if you allow it...Time is a natural anesthetic/numbing agent.
I like to find solace in the great indifference of the entire universe to EVERYTHING we do and have done as a species. Everything is as it should be.
I call it the Big Electron. It does not punish, it does not judge, it just is....and so are we...for a little while ~ Geroge Carlin.

but it can be for some things. The haze of time has removed the direct passthrough to emotions of some memories. Due to time, I reflect more fully upon the whole, whereas earlier I would be extra hazy with emotions.

not quite true. If anything, that is a strong point for many gals I know. It varies.
It's only when both females and males go through the indoctrination education-on-rails system we have, do we lose our skills of natural intuition.
