Been lurking for some time, wanted to tell you guys: You are doing the right thing. Period. My respect to everyone here for having the guts to look into truth's eye. I am a veteran of the war of sexes that has ravaged the world. I was married to a wife that made my life hell, but I was lucky enough to get out alive and well. How? Mostly luck. I bought some Bitcoin in 2012 so I was able to leave her the house, pay her enough for herself and our three kids every month and still have enough money left for me. I have a good job and so with crypto's help now I'm basically back to where I started. But without me stumbling over Bitcoin in the comment section of zerohedge a few years ago I would now be a depressed, ruined alcoholic (as a fact). Thing is: My ex wife isn't even a maniac, or a sadist or a monster. She is just a normal modern woman. She minored in some humanities bs and therefore didn't see it as her duty to cook, clean and be a mother to her kids. She didn't find an "appropriate" job (of course not), so she didn't work. She stayed home, we could afford this, and did the things traditionally expected from women, but never felt well with this. So as soon as I came home from my "easy day in the office" (original quote) there were a thousand things she wanted me to do. For "fun" I would sit down on the couch and start counting until she would stand before me, first stare at me demandingly, and then ask when I would finally do this, this and that. While we were in a big, beautiful house that I had built for her (did a lot of work myself), surrounded by a lawn and garden I had planted and so forth. I spare you the ugly scenes of which were many, screaming, tears, crying children tumbling in between, the whole shebang.
To boil it down: I did everything I felt was expected from me as a man. I built a house, I tortured myself at university and work for fifteen years to get a good and secure job, I helped in the house every evening and on weekends. But to no avail. My wife would never be happy. Never. Oh, for a few minutes, or even three (!) actual days after we moved into her newly built dream house, but then it was on again.
So don't do it. You have no chance. If you think there is a candidate, my advice to you is this: Tell her firmly you expect her to never work again, but instead cook, clean, care for the children and see this as her responsibility. If she even flinches, forget it. This may sound trivial, but no one wanting to do these things in sole (more or less) responsibility is the deal breaker for every. single. relationship. I see around me. I have yet to see one happy, working woman in a healthy relationship. And I've seen many. It doesn't work. Simple as that. I have found a very good woman a few years ago, I confronted her in that way and it was ok for her and we are very happy. But she is not a normal modern woman, far from that. Such women are so sparsely to be encountered I can advise no one to search for one. It took me 44 years and I met a lot of people.
So ignore the unbearable specimens, but don't hate women. They are off worst with our modern society which tells them they are like men, only better. And with planting that mindset into them making them unable to do the things a happy marriage needs them to do: Cooking, cleaning, caring for the children. Women need a good relationship and they need a provider more than men. Men usually get along alone just fine. Women don't. Our cities are filled with all these lonely, sad single women with shitty office jobs they hate approaching "the wall" fast and it is one sad waste to look at. It is tragic.
Our modern society has ruined our women, made them unfit to be married. There are exceptions, of course, but they are so few it would be the same to win the lottery and then proceed to tell everyone to play, too, because "it worked for me!".
My advice is this: Be open for a wonder, but don't expect it. Live your own life, set your own rules and stick to them. A strong man don't giving a f*** and living his life is very attractive so you will get offers. But check them oh so thoroughly. If you enter a relationship, have an exit plan before you enter. This plan will vary strongly depending on where you live. But most importantly: Stick to your rules under all circumstances. Be strong, be independent, be good hearted. In short: Be a man. It used to be so simple, but it isn't any more. Good luck brothers!

Amen.
Same situation as you - built a new house, did all the work, made all the money - she bailed anyways. Now has the shitty office job, wall in the rear view mirror, cant figure out why life didnt work out for her LOL
Thanks for the story, always good to see the different ways a man can go their own way.

Women get off on conflict and resource extraction. They also aren't nearly as sentient as men.

As it seems that you have learned nothing from your previous relationship, your advice isn't worth heeding.

Well, it is your life after all, and I'm no one who can tell you how to live it, only you can do that.
I hope for your sake your decision doesn't blow in your face, but it's rather "when" than "if". So when it does blow up in your face after your NAWALT mysteriously sheds her N, you know where to find us.
