I never post.....but had to this morning as what I heard has me pretty pissed off.

My job is with almost all female coworkers. I pretty much keep to myself and avoid any unnecessary conversations. I also work in a small city where the rate of suicide among men is so high it has made national headlines in Canada.

Overheard this morning in the coffee room as work started was three women talking as they looked at the latest obituary of a young man. One said she has a theory on why so many men are killing themselves. It is because up until the Covid crisis and the economic downturn here locally men have had no responsibilities to worry about and have been taken care off all their lives by women. The others nodded in agreement.

This is the delusional thought process we are dealing with. As someone who knows the background of some of the guys who have taken their own lives it was the exact opposite. The total burden for caring for wife and kids was theirs and theirs alone from a financial standpoint. Once the tough times came most were given zero support by their female partners and were made to feel like shit about things, even though for the most part things were totally out of their control.

What makes this more infuriating is knowing the women involved in this conversation are all married to men who make a considerable more amount of money than any of them. Their men are the only reason they have any kind of decent lifestyle.

I could go on, but I won't. I have a full day of dealing with these people ahead, and need to get back in the proper headspace to do so.

Have a good day, stay strong and look out for each other.
