For part of 2014 and all of 2015, League of Legends was my game of choice, but it's becoming increasingly shitty, so I'm slowly moving on.

Nowadays I'm mainly playing Final Fantasy XIII. Might fire up Battlefield 3 for nostalgia from time to time.

I play PC games on a big ass TV. 360 controller for most action games and mouse and keyboard for anything that merits it.

Lately I've been playing Blue Rider (recommended if you spent the eighties in the arcades) and This War of Mine - highly recommended to anyone who hasn't played it.

KSP has got to be my biggest addiction for the last 2 years. But I also play FSP now and then, L4D,L4D2 were my favorite. Last one I played was Talos Principle.
Looking forward to trying something different: "Mother Russia Bleeds" looks fun, I have not played a street fighter type game since I was a child.

Tabletop gamer here. The group I'm in regularly plays Risk Legacy and Game of Thrones, as well as Twilight Imperium when we have enough time and people. We also have a few other games that regularly make the rotation.

I play a few mobile video games (Magic DotP, The Room series), but just never got into video games very much.

What's your definition of "gamer" ?

The term has a rather wide variety of meanings, and any two people who identify themselves as being a "gamer" may in fact have virtually nothing in common, because they are defining the term entirely differently than the other person.

Historically the term (which actually goes back to the 1600's) applied to people who were heavily into gambling, and spent time at "gaming tables/casinos" -- most especially those betting on card games that involved skill and/or mathematical probability calculations, whether it was Poker, Whist, Vingt Et Un (aka 21 or blackjack) etc. (And while some of you youngun's may dispute that and say I'm just being pedantic and that "Duh! That's NOT what 'gaming' means at all!"* -- I would remind you that things like the "Nevada Gaming Control Board" is all about regulating Casinos and gambling/betting, and has essentially nothing to do with and couldn't care less about "Skyrim" or "World of Warcraft" much less "Minecraft" or anything else.)
More recently (but again still generally before "video games") it was a derivation or shorthand for "wargamer", basically people who were heavily involved most often as a hobby (but not infrequently as a result of or offshoot from professional military or at least "military academy" theory & practice) in a rather specific (and esoteric) subset of war/battle related strategy games -- in essence playing "toy soldiers" (though that's a bit derogatory in it's implications).
Even more recently, the above ("war gaming") has become somewhat "fuzzily" combined with various "role playing games" as well as computer & network based games (most especially any/all that are combat and/or strategy related games).
Then there is the offshoot of people who like to play various "tabletop" or "board games" (which may or may not have some role-play, or quasi-military/strategy elements to them -- and so crossover or get mixed into any/all of the above).
And of course finally, the widest "definition" (if it can even be called that, since these days it probably covers 90% of the population, at least among the "digitally savvy" generations; however you want to delineate THAT) coming from the above being anyone at all that plays (at least regularly if not habitually) one or more computer/console "video games".

The point being that I would thing probably MOST people here will fit at least that last category to some degree (either present or past).

Because I think that -- rather than ask if any MGTOW are "gamers" -- you'd be better off being more specific -- I mean if the real question here is "Does anyone else in /r/MGTOW play STEAM?" then why not ask that, rather than the highly ambiguous "Are you a Gamer?"

Also, I think one of the problems with this:

I have mates who don't even play games because of their partners calling gaming sexist in general.

Is because of a lot of CONFUSION over the terms "gaming/gamer" -- these women are picking up a "meme" and (without really understanding it) are using it to bludgeon their (beta) partners into subservience (and misery)

Moreover I rather doubt that the chief objection of those mens' female partners is that "gaming is sexist" -- but rather it's more a "control" issue, and is about the narcissistic sense of those women wanting to be THE undisputed "center of attention" of their men's lives -- that is they really don't want their men to have ANY activity (much less develop some "circle of friends") that is outside of their control.

It's akin to a woman (girlfriend/wife) saying that she doesn't want her partner to have ANY friends OR hobbies OR other interests (other than HER), because "friends are sexist" or "hobbies/interests are sexist" -- which statements would be rather obviously absurd -- and yet that IS what that woman is really saying.

It's not about "gaming" at all.
