Note that this 48% is only for people who took the paternity test. So if we where to test every couple the number could go either way or stay the same, we simply cannot conclude anything from this data. However it is a good indication that if you think something is up that there is a big chance something is up.

Might be a good idea for every couple just to take a paternity test to begin with. Allthough that might show you do not trust you patner according to some, for me it shows excactly that you love each other enough not trying to pull any tricks. So if you really love your man you would give him the peace of mind to do this test. The same would be with a pre-nup (allthough these can be voided by a fucked up family court). It is not that you do not want to be together for the rest of your life, but simply that you love eachother in such a way that if things go bad you do not want to take advantage of the other, or take his/her earnings.

The problem is the idea of romance and trust, you should just trust or love without questions. But you can turn it around, if you truly love someone you would take the test and would sign a pre nup if asked, simply because given them the feeling that they are secure is worth more then some kind of romantized idea of trust and love. But then again this is prob way to much of a rational thought to make sense to a love striken couple.

There's a super easy way for society to fix this issue.

As it stands, some random from 15 years ago can show up out of the blue with child in tow and have a slam dunk paternity case for 15 years back child support by proving through DNA it's your kid. To a degree I agree with this (although there should be a reasonable limit of a few years for back child support).

Somehow, the reverse isn't true. Simply make the reverse true and make any woman who has any reason to question paternity guilty of fraud and with a few conviction you'll see this crap starting to happen less
