For start not really drunk.

But, I miss my military days as an infantryman. I miss having friends i could talk to, more over since I got out, very few civilians actually get me.

I went in to the army super serious, like no joke full on serious.

After OEF in Afghanistan i came back different.

I came back a goof. Like i remember my platoon taking fire, our group getting ambushed, i remember being so damn scared i could barely move, i remember thinking as if it were not even an hour ago, "this is it, I'm never coming home"

So when i did, nothing on the civilian side ever came close to that level.

I had exec managers FREAKING over deadlines, bosses pissing themselves over the most retarded shit, and all i could think of was "really? Like we aint even getting shot at right now? We just need this flimsy ass paper in by next week?"

It was hard for me to take anything this side of things had all that serious because it never measured up

Some nights i wake up on my feet, some nights i wake up screaming, but damn to know i had friends again

To know i had someone again

That level of connection does not seem to exist outside that life.

10th mountain, 3rd brigade combat team, we were and will always be the Spartans. "With our shields or on them"

Good days good men, most arnt alive anymore. I would say almost everyone i served beside has taken their lives.
