It's wish fulfillment fantasy that a beautiful woman is also very intelligent and can outthink geeks who do this stuff on a daily basis. This is like the chess cliche where the hero sees a move that the expert doesn't and just like that cliche this is a fantasy written by people who don't know chess or mathematics.

The reality is a girl that hot often doesn't do much else except be hot and try to maintain that hotness when she isn't shopping and being pursued by a 100 guys. She only thinks she's clever because most guys won't dare dispute her so she'll do some kind of shit like this.

I just realized this is like the equivalent of a male jock strolling by and "solving" the complex equation that these guys couldn't despite this being the kind of thing they've dedicated their lives to.
