Man one of my friends works at a big company, started as just a worker making barely above minimum wage.. He use to always talk to me about his struggles trying to get with some of his coworkers. Well that was 10 years ago. He now moved up to Manager making serious bank! He tells me he gets so much booty calls now and obvious signs of flirting from women at his workplace, it made me bit jealous lmao. I once dated a teacher for ~a year. At the time I was struggling. I mentioned this before - but I was driving a shitty Toyota Corolla, living with two house mates, and just focused on paying off student loans.
It was around 2017 when she decided - "we have different paths in life". I have since paid off my student loans, drive a nicer car - 2012 because I am not an idiot, and I've doubled my income. I cannot say for sure, but I am pretty sure that she is still paying off private school loans with her charter school teacher salary.

My ex and I were married for 17 years. She had amassed pretty big college loans and had no useful degree to show for it. (why was I so fucking blind?) Anyway, for much of that 17 years I was transferring money every month for her to pay extra on her loans. Periodically I'd ask about them but she was always vague with anything financial and getting any answer was like pulling teeth. It was a major red flag but there was so much else going on I didn't question it for a long time. When we divorced, she wanted even more money to pay down her college loans. It turned out she was blowing the money I gave her every month on stupid shit. She'd been paying the absolute minimum . Thankfully I had bank records going back for years with monthly transfers to her marked "student loan". She didn't get the extra money.
