Knowing better, I dated a single mother, 8ish years older than me.

She had two kids. A teen and a ~1.5 year old. She claimed to be fixed, I didn't believe her. Never believe a woman about her body, she believes she has every right in the world to lie through her teeth about anything she wants to you, especially when it pertains to her body. Baby fever makes women do insane shit just as pussy fever makes men date single mothers and other insane shit. Maybe she actually had her tubes tied, maybe she didn't, I can't prove anything.

She lived in section 8 housing. I wouldn't have guessed it by talking to her at first because she seemed well spoken and educated, but it turns out when you have 2 kids and up and leave your baby daddy, move half way across the country, and haven't yet squeezed him for child support (she was in the process of doing so when we were together), it's hard to find a place to rent because you're fucking broke.

Found out she started doing pretty hard drugs at 14. And from then on she was an alcoholic, and a heavy pot smoker. Not that I have anything against alcohol and pot, but she let those things become a big problem in her life. When I got with her, she had just gotten a dui. But in her defense she seemed to be turning over a new leaf, giving up pot and alcohol altogether, but I may have simply caught her in that phase every drug and alcohol abuser goes through shortly after getting caught or fucking something up. Who knows how long the new leaf would last.
