I was with a hot-but-dumb woman for over 2 years, live-in. Literally the only ways she spent her free time was watching bullshit TV, social media/texting, and watching make-up videos on YouTube.

I play multiple sports and musical instruments, video games, read, do carpentry. I could not get over how useless she was. Needless to say, the relationship did not last.

Hobbies seem like a waste of time and money except for to the person who enjoys that hobby. Best to let people just enjoy whatever the heck it is they like. Anyone that shames you for it is just being a jerk, to hell with them.

My hobbies usually include playing video games in the strategy genre or attempting to learn Dungeons & Dragons. With D&D I started by drawing a map for a highschool assignment and found I had a talent for drawing fictional maps. Made up my own world and are trying to work it into the rules for D&D.

That or I'm usually watching something remotely educational on YouTube.

I posted this in another thread, but my 2 hobbies are deep sea fishing (especially tuna) and coin collecting. Both are really expensive, but I get great satisfaction from them, and I am not giving them up for anyone.

Any hobby is great if it lifts you out of passive consciousness into a highly focused state of consciousness. For some that might be meditation, playing an instrument - for me it's video games - particularly the old arcade ones: Galaga, Commando, 1942 etc.
