Today was International Women's Day, and I found myself succumbing to a rare incident of Red Pill Rage, as I turned on my Facebook and found myself confronted with stories of how women are oppressed because they have to pay tampon taxes, and other such trivial things.

In an effort to say "Hey, men matter too!", and to stand up against the crippling gynocentrism of Australian society, I made a picture post of statistics pertaining to the higher prevalence of male suicides, homicides, military deaths, and workplace accidents.

I was playing with fire.

Within MINUTES, I was inundated with hostile comments and messages about how uneducated I was, how I was undoing 'decades' of progress in 'equality', and how it was 'disrespectful' speaking about men's issues on this important day.

Normally I sit back and ignore blatant sexism, but something really grinded my gears about today, and I felt the strong need to say something. I eventually had to delete my post though; so strong was the hatred.

I learnt something very important today though. The Sisterhood is EXTREMELY powerful. Any sign of dissent from gynocentrism is ruthlessly crushed, and the perpetrator is immediately shamed. I decided that it's just not worth fighting a losing battle, and that my original instinct to ignore feminism and sexism was correct.

tl;dr: There are some battles you just can't win. Gynocentrism has become too powerful. Don't fight it. Just Go Your Own Way.
