This is probably the worst case of infidelity and lying I've ever heard. Concealing it from your partner for over 70 years is time stolen by someone you thought loved you, but never did. The marriage probably lasted this long because of her guilt.

My grandpa played the field literally all over the world in the late 50s early 60s (he worked for the State Department). He stopped in like 62 when my grandma had her 2nd child. He was having some therapy in the mid 90s and thought it would be good to come clean as all of the kids were out of the hoouse. Maybe he thought some statute of limitations had run out, and she'd forgive him?

He was damn lucky she didn't divorce him - maybe because the extended family (including two refugee families in DC alone) would be impacted as well. He was a very diplomatic, honorable and selfless man - spent his family fortune on international aid and rescue - but as far as his marriage went? Found him (after he chose to come clean) kind of a sleaze.

That's because this man was raised when men had balls and self-esteem. Just look at r/relationship_advice today. Half of it is "men" that found out that their SO is fucking some other guy and then being all like "I don't know what to do" or "I want to work it out because she is so wonderful and the love of my life". I will never put myself in that position and even when I was in relationships, even one lie would cause me to walk. I don't understand why men wrap their whole identity and self worth up in some girl that will cuck them in a heartbeat.
