Feminism was started by social engineers, and both the nuclear as well as the extended family made that difficult. Feminism was one of the tools used to break that up. It servers both that purposes as well as helping to bring the population down. We would need 2.3 kids per woman to keep the population steady, most western countries are at or below 1.3, so a rapid decline will start soon.

The idea was to use feminism to dismantle the concept of the nuclear family, to inject women into the workforce so that the other 50% of the population can be taxed, and to isolate and disconnect the individual from the family unit so that they become dependent upon state and corporate systems (such as fiat interest debt).

A secondary objective, and incidentally an intended consequence, was to pacify and virtually neuter the male populace. Look at the status quo. Men have little to no power as far as the system and society is concerned.

Classic divide and conquer on a cultural and societal level. You have to admire the insidious genius of it all.
