I have started to realize lately that GMOW should not result in me keeping all of my resources to myself only to buy status symbols to impress people that don't care about me anyways. I don't even want to spend my money on "experiences" that are really just status symbols in disguise. Everyone wants to climb Mount Everest just to say they did it. Now if I appreciate the challenge, then I will do it. But doing cool shit to impress other people is as shallow as buying things to impress other people. What I want to do with my life is something more like this guy. I want to spend my life doing something that really brings me joy, like spending all day saving dogs because of the immense feeling of pleasure it brings. I'm trying to get out of the r/MGTOW idea that accomplishments that are only made to impress other people are worthwhile. I'm not trying to be hard on the sub and the whole sub is not like that at all, but there are elements of revenge porn in the idea that we won't marry and we will all become wildly successful and show everyone in society that they were wrong for calling us a losing bet. I want to overcome that validation addiction and become more like this guy, who gave up all the world's validation and all of his success and money to instead do what really brings him personal joy.
