You do you. The key point is doing what you want, not what society or anyone else wants you to do.

I think the striving for capital gain you see is as simple as money equals freedom. Even if you can live happily on 20,000 a year, you'll still need to save up some to provide an income flow so you can tell anyone, including potential employers, to fuck off if you feel like it.

The main reason I strive to have capital is because at 35+ I don't want to ever end up going back to live with my parents.

Having my own place, car, and enough money in the bank so that even if the economy collapses, I lose my job, most people lose their jobs, and I get injured for 6+ months, or worse. I still don't have to go back and live with my parents. I can probably live for about 7 years, even with no job, until I would be homeless. I do what I can to turn that 7 years into 50+ years. Then I can probably retire early. So that's why I put so much into investments and try to earn as much as I can while still living an enjoyable life.

I think there is more to gain from learning to live minimalistically and be happy, than there is to gain from being materialistic. Things and money are empty, true happiness and consistent feelings of contentment come from within, that's how I choose to live at least.

Going your own way means just that; your own way. You dont need to live a life of excess and instagram pictures by a landscape you get to enjoy because you made 80k last month... some guys work towards it, some inherit it, others pass it up for something else.

Its about breaking the mold, not finding a way to fit into it.

I have noticed these type of posts as well. I think there are a few reasons.

A) MGTOW are usually painted as unhappy people by those who seek to discredit the ideology. Men who post pictures of their ”toys” are trying to say ”Would you be unhappy if you owned this?”

B) One of the great advantages of adhering to the movement is the money you save. Dating is expensive for men. Children are expensive for men. Marriage is expensive for men. Divorce is very, very, expensive for men. They shouldn't be posting pictures of moterbikes and vacations, they should be posting pictures of houses.

The essence of MGTOW is rejecting what society tells you a man most do to be successful and happy, and deciding what that is for yourself. If your priorities in life are such that you are happy being homeless or living in a van, you do that. YOUR happiness and satisfaction with your life is what is important. Not your parents, or internet commentators.

You don't need a high income to be MGTOW.

He lives in an old RV, focuses on his work and projects, no fancy trucks or motorcycles, or traveling around. He just doesn't share it here because for him there's no need to.

live below your means, minimally. If you can invest as little as $100 a month it's a start, when you see how it grows, it will motivate you to do more. Put your money to work for you. Learn how finance and investment works, build your wealth slowly, gradually if you don't have the means to invest large amounts, look into the concept of "dollar cost averaging" - investing small amounts over a long period of time, you won't get rich quick, but you will build wealth in time.

patience, restraint, sacrifice, focus on your goals. if you know what you want, you need to find ways to achieve your goals.

like anything else, you need to educate yourself on wealth, finance and investing, so you understand how it works. Find high yield savings and CDs to start, while you learn about finance and investing. Don't let fear or ignorance stop you.

I recommend reading "The Intelligent Investor" by Benjamin Graham, he was Warren Buffet's mentor. This is value investing, when you learn this, then decide if you want to move on to more risk and reward investments in time.

Doing nothing achieves nothing; doing something without knowledge, will likely lead to failure.

Just do whatever makes you happy. Don't worry about what other people think. You can express what makes you happy here if you want to, just like they do. One guy might like to ride his motorcycle around the mountains. Another might hike mt Everest. Maybe you just want to sit around and play video games all day. The posts they make are not to humble brag or seek validation, just to share the benefits of MGTOW with guys who might be on the fence.

GYOW means just that. Some men like the toys and success, but they do it for their own enjoyment and not impress women.

Some men prefer a very simple life where free time is more important than cash or success.

Both are MGTOWS because to each their own. It is about focusing on YOUR priorities, no matter what those priorities may be. We support each other in pursuing our dreams.

As to the money, it can make life easier (or harder) depending on what you do with it.

Yeah that’s def one of the more hypocritical aspects of this sub. They’ll espouse how much women want money, then go off about you need to have it for yourself too. Which isn’t really true 100%.

But also, if you’re stuck at that job/crappy living space, and not trying for something more - you’re not improving yourself and not really a MGTOW.

Being happy with what whatever you have is a great thing. But there’s a line between that and general complacency...

Well if you have to work then you might as well get paid a shit load, it's like if you have to do something then do it well. Working a bar job may be chill, but it cannot be a rewarding occupation unless you brainwash yourself into thinking it which people do. Do what you want though, but high performing people who chase rewarding jobs tend to make money.
