You suggest that turning away from the current landscape is quitting. The alternative is to risk financial and social ruin and in some cases your actual freedom in the hopes of procreation or wage slavery. First of all "historical chivalry" is not a singular "thing" rather it was an "evolving concept" that changed through many different iterations/cycles over many generations.

So to say someone is (or is not) desiring "historical chivalry" is incredibly vague.

The point I am making here is fairly simple: the terms "TradCon" or ("TradCuck") is generally shorthand for people desiring a "return to circa [19]50's era dating & family structure" -- and the iteration of "chivalry" that they then mean is the sort of imaginary/fictional portrayal of it from TV shows of the era.

THAT is significantly different than wanting "historical chivalry" (whatever other iteration) of the more distant past (be it the "chaperoned 'courting' process" of the 19th century {the reality OR the fictionalized versions}; the {ostensibly} unrequited feudalistic "knight errant" of the medieval era {at least as it too existed "in fiction"and folklore}; or... well, the lost goes on).

Usually when people use the term "Chivalry" in a historical context (e.g., ranting about how nobody knows their history) they are referring to the "chivalric code" not modern reinterpretations. The mixing of technical terms like Traditionalism and the slang usage of Chivalry confused me.

Slang use of "chivalry" (and also there are "slang" definitions of "Traditionalism" -- to wit "Trad Con") is most frequently referring to someone who idealizes the post-WWII era of American culture/history -- basically sentimentalism for the "Baby Boomer" childhood era -- and then "tradition/traditionalism" gets lumped in with that).

And by "chivalry" (common slang) what they mean is a set of rather banal prescriptive/proscriptive things; invariably focused SOLELY on the behavior/actions of "gentlemen" towards & around "ladies", thus: men paying for dates (dinner & movie), men opening/holding doors open for women (doors on vehicles, doors on buildings, etc); men NOT "swearing" (i.e. using "dirty/naughty" words), especially in "mixed company" (anytime a female or child is nearby); and of course never EVER using "insulting" language to refer to a woman, etc.

As for that "Code of Chivalry" -- it too was a retconned thing -- defined more in fictional stories written centuries AFTER the era it supposedly applied to was long past.

I'm a conservative, I don't see why wanting to revert societal norms to 1800's is such a bad thing. Women in those times were put in their place, they belonged in the kitchen and only spoke when instructed to. They were shamed and cut off from society if they were whores. If I were to get married, I would absolutely not want it to be because society pressured the woman to find a partner. I've had the experience of someone pretending to be attracted to me, and then I figured out later that she just needed a guy to live with, because she was having trouble supporting herself financially. It is a horrible feeling to discover something like that.

Women now have a much easier time supporting themselves without having to be married to a guy. But what we have learned is that, under such circumstances, it doesn't appear that a lot of the women are actually very attracted to a lot of the guys.

So, I feel like we have an unfixable problem, until the day that technology can turn all guys into Chads. And even a lot of Chads have chosen MGTOW. So maybe it will always be an unfixable problem.
