Just IMO, but part of this is because a lot of married men have been trained to allow the wife to control their entire social life. He has no friends, he's required to only see the couples who are 'her' friends. She won't allow him to hang out with men who are bachelors. Men's spaces such as clubs or bowling leagues, they're all gone, destroyed by women. And when she divorces him it's always a surprise. She's not shocked by it because the divorce is her idea, she had a plan. Suddenly he finds himself destroyed and he has no social network to help him.

Many times I've had a friend who was happy to get married and I grieve for losing them. Because after they're married, the wife won't let them be friends with me. They want their husbands to break all connections to the life they had before getting married. I'm sure many other men have seen the same thing.

Good thing I never got married and taken to the cleaners. I think in my simpin days sipping that simp juice I would of been a serious mess.

I am sorry for all the guys on here that went through a divorce. Unfortunately, some guys don’t make it and end up like this quote.

The only time I've felt suicidal was when I was with with ex wife. I tried telling her she was making me feel this way but of course she couldn't believe it or didn't care. The day I finally got her out of my life the feeling miraculously went away. I'm pretty sure she had BPD. Other relationships before this psycho bitch never made feel like that. At least she led me to discover MGTOW.

To be fair, this argument in the OP doesn't guarantee the reason why divorced men commit more suicides isn't necessarily because they were emotionally involved.

Men do commit more suicides after divorce because the alimony and child support overwhelms them and they have no choice but to either go to prison (almost indefinitely), flee the country, or kill themselves. Second, men tend to get cut off from their old friends (mostly because the wife forces him away) so when he finally gets divorced he has a long way to go to reestablishing his friendships which again takes a toll on him.

Granted, it IS true that men are more invested in marriage than women (and therefore suffer more repercussions after a divorce than women; when your investment blows up in your face it is traumatizing) but just nitpicking here.
