I had been doing research for upcoming debate for my college about feminism and its effects and found massive differences between the two browsers search results. This just shows google is manipulating the search results.

Yep. I use mostly DDG too.

Everybody should read www.privacytools.io and hang around r/privacy for a while.

Some good tips:

Using the Disconnect extension, httpseverywhere and uBlock or another adblock
using 2 factor authentication
cleaning cookies often (I usually clean when I close the browser)
using a non mainstream email provider such as protonmail and tutanota.
using brave browser, firefox or chromium (do not confuse it for google chrome)
setting up your own encrypted cloud or, at least, using one less mainstream
avoiding windows 10 (alternatives are previous windows versions, apple's macOS and linux);
using VPNs (especially important if you use public wifi) and if you want to go hardcore, checking out tor, i2p and freenet
encrypting your data when possible. You can do it on smartphones - android and ios allow it - and linux has a native disk encryption. Windows also has "encryption" for professional version, the home version doesn't allow it (Windows encryption is likely very flawed, but it may be useful if you are stolen). For files 7zip is enough.
using cash instead of banking and credit card as much as possible.

Of course. Google has been PC filtering their search results for years now. Dump them for duckduckgo. Stop saying "google it." Say "duckduckgo" it.

Google always selectively edits search results. For some time after a major shooting in the US, you could not search for the AR-15. You could, however, search for any comparable rifle that doesn’t come in super-scary black.

I am using DuckDuckGo since 2015. When the electionthings started in the US, I knew they manipulated search results and such and compared both search engines. Google already did that years ago. I was 17 at that time. Since then I am using DuckDuckGo.
