A common theory is that 80% of the women are all trying to get the same 20% of men. While the idea behind the theory that the majority of women are all trying for the same minority of men is correct, the numbers are wrong.

This post isn't meant to be a humble brag, that isn't my intention. With that being said I fall comfortably in the top 20% of men. I still get rejected with regularity and by women who have a lower SMV.

100% of dateable women (the word dateable is important here, it doesn't really matter how many completely undesirable women want to be with you) are looking to get with the same 3-5% of men. Basically every woman who is a 6+ is trying to get with a 9+ and totally slighting any male who is less than that regardless of if he is more attractive than her or not.

From my observation the only men who date women who are of a similar SMV are the men on the both ends of the extreme. Men who fall between 5-8 are left with the option to either date down (significantly), or to just not date at all.
