I(28) called my mom(63, grew up during the rise of feminism) earlier today about advice for investing my money. Explained that I want to get started now to help myself become more financially secure and hopefully retire sooner than I would otherwise. Immediately start getting yelled at with "What are you trying to retire from? All the worthless jobs you've had? When I was your age I was struggling!"...(she was a poor single mom, her fault.) Obviously I informed her that most people don't want to work forever, and that having a source of income isn't exactly worthless. Then she brings up my uncle(her brother) "He struggled his whole life and he's 65 and still working!" Ok bitch, that's a good reason for me to plan ahead and not end up like him(and she doesn't even like her brother, it's just more shit talking.) By the way, my mom retired at 35, when she got knocked up and had me!(my dad was a lawyer, she was broke.) I was her ticket out of having to work and now I'm the piece of shit. And over the course of their marriage my dad became a miserable drunk and killed himself, now she has his money. When he died the only thing she was worried about was making sure all his shit came to her. Didn't miss him at all. Steer clear you guys, these motherfuckers are evil. All that shit I just said is just one example of what I've seen one of them do, and I'm just one person. Put that in perspective and save yourselves before it's too late. Good luck everyone.
