I love this article because it actually helps explain the gender earnings gap extremely well. Women work: 34 hours per week on average Men work: 44.8 hours per week on average 44.8/34 = 75.89 Or, in other words Women work 76 percent less than men do. Coincidentally, the often cited gender "wage" gap is also about 77 - 78%.

In other words, the females have to work 7 hours/day instead of 6 in order to be the "strong and independent women" they're claiming to be (to keep paying off their loans, cc debts and finance their insatiable shopping habits, actually). On the other hand, the men are still working their 9 hours/day because lots of us choose NOT to support those leeches anymore. I call it a win-win! P.S. A more proper and ACCURATE context in the title would be something along the lines of, "Men's Working Hours Per Week Now Under 45, Women's Up to 34" (or vice-versa).

But they clearly want no part of proper context in the headline or even the body of the article. This is exactly why people are questioning so much of journalistic credibility.

Yeah, misleading headlines.

The headlines are generally written by the editors, whether it comes from internal or they buy it from freelancers.

So it's very possible that Matthew Hickley here thought he was writing a general story about changes in work hours, and then someone with an agenda put their intended spin as the headline. I'm not saying Daily Mail and Matthew don't have an aligned agenda, they probably do... I'm just using this to illustrate how hard it is to even get eyeballs on any neutral or RP / anti-(((them))) without the end publishers that control the actual medium where the eyeballs are seeking the news spinning it in the opposite direction. It's even possible that Matthew wrote the bottom 3 paragraphs and the editor also wrote the introduction,, that's very common too.

To be fair 10 of my hours a week is spent standing around waiting for women to do their job. Really, hard oppressive shit like open receiving doors on time, showing up to work on time, not standing talking to other women for 45 minutes while men are outside 3ft away and it takes 10 secs to unlock the door. You know the shit the male receivers do with no issues until they were replaced with women for diversity.

Factor in the part-time hours women with kids often work and that'll dip below 30 hours a week...

If we were to see true equality, then women either need to practice what they preach and up their hours to suit or alternatively, men need to cut their hours but as they now earn no more than women and women work for the same - take no pay cut as a result of working the same hours.
