I served an elderly lady. Turns out the mountain of groceries she was buying were for a very busy cooking class she runs for, wait for it, single mothers.

I acted shocked that so many women couldn't cook, and remarked that I couldn't believe it. She replied that she was personally appalled that so many strong, independent young women couldn't prepare the simplest of home cooked meals for their children, and that many of the kids who were present at the class had lived on purely processed crap before she began teaching.

I'm even more appalled that this is where my taxes are going.
