meanwhile MGTOW's are buying produce, cuts of meat and cooking delicious meals for themselves not frozen shitplates.

Some of the frozen shitplates are decent now. Healthy choice has a few good lines.

Doctor it up and add the name “surprise” at the end for additional kick.

I'm with you here... just had a grand ole red baron pizza with fresh garlic on top.
I'm content with the simple stuff.

Bcuz those aren't just frozen shitplates. And if ur spending anykind of dough monthly on eating out... guarenteed a box of these meals is cheaper in long run.

Wait... is there some sort of fundamental tradeoff between healthiness and price in food?
That's terrible! Tons of people are gonna be unhealthy after this news...
[–]Oncefa24 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Healthier food is, on average, more expensive.
That doesn't mean that you can't eat healthy and also eat cheaply (there are some cheap, healthy foods out there), it just limits some of your choices is all.

I respectfully disagree. Any frozen prepared meal is highly processed (largely devoid of fiber and nutrients) and should be limited if not completely avoided.
The taste and palatability of the meal does not factor into this judgement whatsoever. Enough added sugar, salt and industrial cooking oils can make anything palatable. Go for whole foods, they are better in every way.
[–]Tre_Walker0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Taste and nutrition are two entirely different things.
Frozen meals are processed, processed foods are less nutritious.
Not saying I wouldn't eat them it is just rare. I would rather eat uncooked healthy food than a pretty packaged frozen one.

I hope you have a farmer's market or Asian market nearby. Cheap spices and veggies make months of rice tolerable. Good luck, hang in there and imagine that feeling when the car is yours! GYOW.
[–]soviet9370 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
there are a couple in my area, thanks, ill keep that in mind next time i go grocery shopping.
[–]TakuanNoho 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Asian markets got a few of us dads through the lean times of divorce. Until I recovered, I saved the meat for the days with my child. Off days for me were (insert odd veggie here), rice, and a legume or leftover protein. That shit gets olde fast. But a dollar a meal can't be beat. That car of yours should come with a steak and a nice glass or two. You can do this standing on your head! Good luck!

I eat for about $200 - $250 a month. Granola cereal and a banana for breakfast. 2 tunafish sandwiches for lunch and a 10oz chicken breast with cheese and an rotation of broccoli, baked beans, greenbeans, or spinach. On friday, if I feel like it I will have a dessert. I always drink either straight water or a flavored water. Ocassionaly I will drink a coke. If you can eat cheaper and better than that let me know.
[–]SardinesFordinna0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
25 lb bag of rice, and buying 6 dozen eggs all at once can go a long way for cheap too
[–]BitchesBHating 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I guess it works for you but sounds like torture To me, I spend a lot my Income on food probably about 1k a month. Different strokes for different folks.
[–]kek_mate0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
about the only thing I think I could better there would be to drop the granola cereal. Depending on the type that stuff can have loads of sugar added and I've never found a cereal I liked as much as steel cut oats. I add in shredded coconut(10g), hemp hearts(5g), cinnamon, raisins(30g), and peanut butter(20g) to 40g steel cut oats and 10g buckwheat. That comes out to just over 500 calories. While some of those other ingredients are expensive, you're really not adding a lot of the expensive ingredients.

+1 to oils spices.
But, that's too many carbs, it's so much easier to just cut them out after a week of low carb/keto. They make you spend more willpower on diet than it's worth if you include them. But, YMMV.
(Some nutjobs go overboard with their zealotry, ignoring CICO, but killing the blood sugar spikes does actually kill hunger cravings substantially.)
[–]Tassob 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I agree with you from a nutrition stand point. Carbs are cheap and a good value if you can control intake. If i could afford it fruit and side of beef would be all you find in my fridge...but i am not there yet.

You can't just make a blanket statement assuming mgtow eat better than single women or blue pill men. It's also incorrect to assume frozen food is worse than food you prepare yourself. Frozen pizzas always taste way better than pizza I make myself. It's not even close.
[–]BornForThisTime 6 points7 points8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Frozen pizza is awful. You can buy crust mix for like $0.69 but from scratch is even better. Buy two 12” crust mixes and buy a $0.59 15oz can of tomato sauce and add basil, garlic and oregano to it on the stove and thicken with two tablespoons of cornstarch slurry. Buy 8oz of mozzarella and 8oz of gouda cheese and shred it in a food processor or grator box. (freezing the cheese first helps with clean up) My local store had 2 for $4 on 8oz blocks. Buy the discount end pieces of pepperoni and throw all these ingredients on a pizza.
For like $9 you can make two killer pizzas with a shitload of pepperoni and cheese. You will still have pepperoni and cheese left over, I do 8oz of cheese for a 16” pizza and as much pepperoni I can get on it in a single layer. Probably have 2lbs of pepperoni left out of a $4 3lb bag.

You can't just make a blanket statement assuming
WE CAN.
WE DID.
AND IT WAS AWESOME.
AND AINT DAMN THING YOU CAN DO ABOUT.
[–]mma13579-2 points-1 points0 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
You're correct, most people are afraid of frozen food for some reason. Yeah some frozen food just doesn't taste as nice but it's a lot cheaper and often tastes exactly the same if you cook it right.
[–]Global_MGTOW4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
some frozen food just doesn't taste as nice often tastes exactly the same if you cook it right.
some frozen food just doesn't taste as nice
often tastes exactly the same if you cook it right.
If you're cooking food using fresh ingredients and it taste "exactly the same" as frozen food, you're cooking it wrong. The difference between frozen food and fresh food is night and day, especially if you're using higher quality ingredients.
Also, pre-processed meals have the "advantage" of using flavor enhancing chemicals that are targeted for the modern taste buds. Unfortunately, the amount of sodium is crazy. In Canada, you can find Marie Calendar meals. Peep the sodium on one of those... It would make a sea pirate pucker. Nothing is better for your than cooking fresh, though. u/Global_MGTOW is correct as usual.
[–]herpderpfeynman-1 points0 points1 point 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I fail to see how added chemicals are a plus.
That is why the word "advantage" was in quotes. The only advantage is to the manufacturer of the meal.
[–]mma135790 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Depends what it is, pizza tastes the same.

to think this is the result of data over (who knows how many) millions of transactions to maximize revenue. red pill proven right. they did it to themselves.
[–]tallwheel16 points17 points18 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
This is photoshopped for sure, though. There's no way there's a supermarket that has a whole aisle just for cat stuff, and wine and "meals for one" would never go in the same aisle. Take a look at the pixels around the letters if you have any doubts.
It's a good meme though.
[–]zilti9 points10 points11 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Mine does. Though the "meals for one" looks shopped. I think the other 3 are legit.
[–]tallwheel4 points5 points6 points 8 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
You can see the very top of the products in the aisles at the bottom of the pic. That ain't cat stuff. Looks like liquor to me.
Also look at the signs in the aisles. On the right side looks like "Coffee" and "Party [something]". On the left side the signs say "Bottled Liquor" and... ooh look at the sign nearest the camera. Shopped so that we can't read what the sign originally said.
My best guess is that all four of the items at the top are shopped in, but wine is the only food item that looks like it might belong in this section of the store, so I could be wrong.
[–]BadamPshh1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I doubt there would even be a "meals for one" sign anywhere. That wording would make mother Teresa suicidal.
