[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
California? New York? San fran?
[–]Mars80 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would like to point out that 140k also takes into account my investments not just my salary, and it's a after tax figure.
[–]MGTOWIAN2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
140k is nothing if you have a family.

We're MGTOWs. We only have one mouth to feed. The exception is the dog.
Stay MGTOW. You'll be way ahead.

The best is when someone couldn't afford college so they took out a loan, couldn't afford their car so they took out a loan, and couldn't afford their house so they took out a loan, and then what is the next logical step when you can't afford a damn thing? Spawn some brats, because you know, you don't have enough financial burdens. The sheep don't value their freedom, or even know they are slaves. All that matters is fitting the mold and looking successful to a sick society.

I tell ya, That is my plan. To live tax free off the money of post-wall women who don't realize their problem is a failure to cultivate a personality
[–]Flintblood5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Exactly. Generation Z already gets this. See this https://www.reddit.com/r/MGTOW/comments/73cbkv/not_drinking_or_driving_teens_increasingly_put/?st=J87ZADUH&sh=a8ba3e7c
The ones bitching about that article don't get it. They're still trapped in the Matrix.

Gen Z is going to be everything millennials and baby boomers pretend to be.
[–]TyrannicalWill2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Gen Y were the real experimental fuckups. Gen Z inherited the wisdom from them in addition to better economic circumstances.

Humans have always had to work, historically way longer than 8 hours a day and in much more difficult conditions than an air conditioned office.
I went through this stage when I was closing in on adulthood and it finally donned on me that my whole life would involve having a job, but that's what humans have to do to survive, contribute something of value.

I know it's hip to be socially progressive today "let the 1% pay for it! REEEE!". Especially among upper middle class college kids. But this is not how the world works, and capitalism is the best system we have so far.
Look, I hate my job too, I work 60 hours a week. But it allows me to do and buy things I want to. It allows me to scuba dive in exotic places around the world, eat out in expensive restaurants, drive nice cars, live in a luxury apartment. Now my parents were from Eastern Europe. They lived during communism. And that was real shit show. They had to wake up at 4am and stand in 1 hour long line to buy loaf of bread. They (and everyone else) lived in absolutely shit conditions, sharing old soviet apartment with an alcoholic, and a family with 5 kids. But at least they didn't have to work for the man right? Wrong. If you didn't show up at work it was grounds to be not just fired, but actually arrested. So there you go. Equality bitch. Everyone's poor.

Westerners dont even know what youre talking about. Socialism and communism is cool bro. Cause everybody was equal and not out to make money. /s. signed-Politruk.

Employment is better than unemployment.
[–]38SPL0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
Currently in the latter position and it fucking sucks. If it weren't for my parents, I would be homeless.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Yeah, same here. Unemployment is 24/7 hell.
[–]38SPL0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
It's the worst. Currently trying to get by on welfare which barely pays the bills. I'm never taking employment for granted again.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Get onto starting a one-man business as soon as you can. I wasted too much time trying to get other business' to hire me.
[–]38SPL0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I've thought about it for a while. Even just starting a small Ebay business as an additional income stream.
Starting a one-man business and making it your primary income and living off it is difficult though.
Any ideas?
A few come to mind: Handy-man. Residential or commercial cleaner. Make a product/s out of natural materials. Set up a food/product store at your community's monthly market.
[–]38SPL0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Good ideas. Lawn mowing can be lucrative too.

I'm currently between jobs and am trying to survive on welfare. I cannot wait to get back into fulltime employment and work 40 hours per week. Sure it won't be my dream job and I won't be earning six figures, but at least I will have my own apartment again and financial independence.
And 40 hours per week is nothing. Many people regularly work 60-80 hour weeks. Personally, 40 hours is enough for me.
[–]nihilpill[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Got a point, but the economic system still sucks.
[–]38SPL1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Oh I agree with you totally, but unfortunately having to keep a 9-5 job is the reality for most people.
I would ideally like to become completely self sufficient in the future, whether that means starting my own company or investing. Either way, I would need to do a lot of research first and obviously have big money behind me to begin with. So yeah, for now I'll stick with the rat race. Not many other options at this point in my life.
[–]nihilpill[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Regretfully, that's how it is for most of us bro. Our only choice seems to be to hold on to our values and be strong.
The only thing that irks me about working is knowing I have to bust my arse every day while the majority of single mothers don't work a day in their lives. They get to bludge off the welfare system and child support, which of course they spend on themselves instead of the child.

Well if no one had jobs there would be no one farming food, building structures etc. If no one had a job, there would be no movies, no paper, no alcohol, no anything. Everyone has their place. Even before money, people had to fulfill their obligations to society.
I find most people can't reconcile the job they want with the income they want. For me, I work in visual arts and I knew for the longest time that I wasn't going to be buying a Ferrari off that. If you're unhappy with your job -- quit and do what you want to do. And if you can't it's because you don't have the skills necessary, in which case you should be thankful that someone is willing to employ you.

It's easy to mock the idea of working to earn a wage, but it's actually a pretty neat system

A lot of bums are lazy fucks who suck money from the government and wallow in their own shit and pass out drunk.
