Masturbation and porn can get out of hand (no pun intended) very easily, and you may find yourself wasting a significant portion of your day. However, repressing it also has consequences. As with everything in life, it's all about balance.

All joking aside, there's no real advantage in either direction. It's not good to be constantly distracted by desires. But it's not good to deprive oneself either. Don't chase, and for God's sake don't let distraction ruin opportunity. Be present. Take in the scenery and acknowledge the beauty, but don't dwell. There is always bigger, better or prettier.

The key is not confuse control with suppression. It is neither wise nor healthy to suppress normal biological urges. More experienced MGTOW learn to to deflect those urges unto more productive outlets such as careers, hobbies and studies, and when all else fails there is nothing wrong with just watching porn to get it over with and go about the rest of your day.

As time goes on you actually become less horny, the thought of taking the trouble to make the time for porn becomes a burden unto itself and you adapt mentally and psychologically in order to live without it.

A strategy you can use is do something productive and use porn as a reward after accomplishing it. Keep setting the bar higher and higher and eventually you will actually get addicted to the tasks instead of sexual release. You will become as sexually motivated to achieve non-sexual goals as you would with achieving actual sex. This is called sexual transmutation. It is when your mind achieves an almost sexual desire for a non-sexual activity because you have essentially tricked your brain into believing that a non-sexual activity is conducive to sex.

Also, your interest in actual sex - and your tolerance for women's BS - will decline as you age. On this side of 30 you are nowhere near as anxious about sex as when you are 20. Your mind becomes more clear, more focused and a lot more ambitious about non-sexual shit such as career, finances, and intellectual pursuits. The fog of having a horny mind goes away with age for men. But the strategy of sexual deflection can still stay with you for decades after you acquire it. For example: I get pleasure out of being efficient, punctual, and productive at work and especially in matters of my personal finances, reputation, health and wealth.

depends on your age. if you're under 45 withholding from sex just makes you do stupid shit anyways.

if you really want to avoid it then find a healthy addiction. at least one that doesn't cost anything. I got into day trading but then pulled way back after I lost many of my gains. I've started to cook gourmet meals and get back into gaming.

it's a good time sink and it helps not distract me into stupid shit. I even find myself trying to look at porn once in awhile but it's just boring and uninteresting to me.

I am a bit older and I've tried it all. I'm very sexual, always been, and I disagree with a lot of things that are being repeated everywhere.

I somewhat discussed this in another related post, but let me tackle it again here.

First, you need to think about YOUR needs and YOUR value system. What's a solution for one man might not work for another man.

I sincerely disagree with the suggestions about "semen retention", or "nofap" etc. Regular ejaculation is directly linked to a REDUCTION of prostate cancer risks, so make sure to satisfy yourself many times per week (within sane limits.)

Porn is quick and efficient, and after you're done, your mind is free to work on your future, start a business, a new passion, whatever you'd like to accomplish and be proud of.

I'm not someone who gets "addicted" to anything by default. For example, I have lots of wine and alcohol here, but I barely ever drink. But I understand some people MIGHT be at risk of addiction. "Know thy self" and act accordingly. If you feel you are losing control over porn, then take drastic action. Use written porn instead, for example. But for me, porn was never a "problem", it was a "solution".

As a rule of thumb, I'd say if you need porn more than once a day, maybe you're facing a problem. Handle it.

People come up with all kinds of crazy theories and new fads all the time. You can follow the crowd, or you can think logically. YOU ARE A MAN, which means you have 25 times the "sexual drive" of most women. And you really think you could ignore that? Will your sexual drive get worse because you satisfy yourself with porn? Yes and no. It come and goes. Generally speaking, I believe a healthy man will keep a very high sexual drive until he gets very old. I don't know what age because I'm not old enough yet. I can't see any drop coming my way until I'm 70, at this point. Or maybe never. And I'm happy for that. My part time girlfriend too. The sex drive is a magical tool: learn to use it! Experiment & take control. Don't be afraid. I've had moments where psychologists might possibly have declared me "addicted". But they passed, simply because I could "sense it" myself and took actions to reduce it.

All in all, it's like handling a sailboat. You use the wind to your advantage, but you understand the fact that the wind can be stronger than your boat, so you RESPECT the wind and make sure to adjust accordingly before your sailboat sinks. Right?

Porn can be a positive force in a man's life!

Controlling yourself doesn't mean to deprive yourself of sexual satisfaction.

Use porn to your advantage to clear your mind and be able to focus on satisfying life projects and passions while your mind is temporarily relieved.

I've gone 130 days without busting. It helped me focus and took a load off me mentally because I too feel bad or ashamed watching porn. I'm still practicing retention and it still helps, but it took years before I found some stability (not relapsing constantly). Might be different for you tho.
