Help me get better at math

Hi. I hate numbers. I hate numbers so much i don't even like counting my own money. Math is basically witchcraft. 3 + C = a stuttering problem because C is a fucking C-C-Consonant.

I failed Pre-algebra 4 times.

I suck at math.

And i still don't like it, but what removed the barriers for me was when i had an honest to god "the Matrix" moment when i realized that "there is no spoon."

For me it was "there are no numbers" Math is just a language. Numbers are the alphabet. Operations are the grammar. Formulas are the composition.

Once i realized the truth (there are no numbers, it's just a logic puzzle), it became much much easier.

I still use a calculator for the arithmatic parts, but the rest of it is not nearly so bad.

If you are linguistically inclined, just translate the problems into a statment, and go from there.

Play sudoku. It can help with the logic thinking necessary for maths

This has helped to understand a few concepts such as Standard Deviation. It also has really simple stuff as well. Furthermore, it uses a lot of examples and exercises for you practice. Moreover, its free and no need to sign up.

I took up celestial navigation cos it doesnt sound like math to me, but there is much to be learned while doing something completely else. Buy a Sextant and learn how to use it.

I am majoring Math and super interested in high level topics. I was thinking that I do not like math (arithmatic etc.). Then I realized that real math has nothing to do with high school math. You never calculate anything. You have the purely abstract theories of beautiful mathematics, and you gradually construct a way of collective thinking. Now I live my life for Maths.

I personally prefer books. For linear algebra, my fav is Gilbert Strang's book. For Advanced Analysis my fav book is Gerald Folland's. If you are looking for a more fundamental piece, as a start book, Courant's "What is Mathematics?" is a perfect one. It is written for non-mathematicians, and gives superb insight about many different fields of math.

Maybe a little unusual for a suggestion, but....learn to play a musical instrument. Music theory is a sort of math

I got better at math by playing AD&D. Rolling the dice, and calculating the damage. Math is fun when your character is beating a troll's ass in imaginary combat. 😎

I watch the you tube channel 'mind your decisions'... Its mostly puzzle based, but it helps...

Its mostly advanced mathematics though, involving calculus and logarithms... So idk if you would like ot or not.
