Avoid debt and try to live well below your means. Avoid financial purchases that require reoccurring payments as best you can because that will help you avoid debt. Put way more away for retirement than the average person does. Make sure you really, really want to have children because that's a decision that you can't take back. Pursue your dreams without waiver. But by far my biggest advice is to not hold grudges towards people - that is definitely one of the most toxic things I can say has plagued my life. Both big and little. That person just cut you off driving? Let it go. Get in a fight with your sibling/parent/friend? Don't give them the silent treatment because months turn into years quick and you could have settled things with a conversation and be enjoying life with one another. One of the more common regrets I hear among people my age and older is relationships that they let go or lost because there may come a day when you want or need it, but it's too late to repair by then. Making good friends is relatively easy as a younger person if that's what you want. But as you get older it can be close to impossible because most people already are "flush" with all they can handle socially so they don't want to take on new people so to speak. With that said - be quick to remove truly toxic people from your life. Also, be humble - If you don't know, say you don't know. Don't go around pretending you know everything even if you consider yourself an expert.

Do not brag. Do not brag about anything, whether women, finances, or whatever. People will either try to sabotage or get some of the action from your pie.

Unfortunately, young men today are much softer since most were probably just raised by their mother. Their view of masculinity inevitably is taught through that female lens.

Think for yourself. Have conviction. Be a person of action instead of just words. Don't shy away from things that require work.

You know, be a man.

I went with the never get married route, as there is no benefit to me at all, and went the make lots of money and invest it route.

If I could go back in time...

Right out of high school, I would just do the highest paying job whatever that might be like oil-field or alaskan crab fishing, whatever can make a lot of money with low skill.

Stay away from all drugs and watch the drinking. No prostitutes.

Work that job for 3-5 years saving as much as possible. Hopefully 200K. Tell no one! NO ONE!

Then finally go into a trade or college.

Get your first post-school shit job and max your 401K, IRA, HSA. Transfer companies every two years. Until you found an area and job you like and buy a modest house.

If you can have a retirement account worth 150K before 30 it will be worth 750K when you are 63.

Assuming you pay off the house, your only expenses will be food, utilities, insurance and entertainment.

At this point, continue working your same job and contributing toward your retirement up to the match. This is where your passions can finally manifest.

If you have a business idea you can do it, they will not seize your retirement funds or home during bankruptcy, so fuck it, make a business and enjoy watching it grow, if it fails, who cares lol.

I've seen people being offered jobs on the spot because they said their business failed, it shows balls to take risks like that and top men like that.

No one gives a shit if you fail.

Life lesson I learned: You are more adaptable than you can possibly imagine. Who you are is not a concrete entity, you can change your attitude and behaviors to better fit your environment. You have to "want" to be adaptable. You aren't a math person or a person that enjoys running you are a person who wants to be good at math and a person who will enjoy running.

Find a trade or go into some type of engineering field. Get a vasectomy! Don't catch feels for any woman...ever! You see a couple holding hands laughing and giggling? That sucker is going to be crying in a few years. You see an old couple holding hands? Realize that is the 1 in 10 couples who last (it's not the norm). Or most likely they are headed back to their ALF to join in some sex parties. Them old people be getting freaky in retirement communities.
