I worked at McDonalds during highschool. Took any extra hours I could, saved half of everything I made. Paid for school in full.

I regret it.

It was an absolute waste of time.

How did I do it? I worked while going to school and paid for it that way. I also took 6 years. That's what people tend to forget. They think "old" people somehow could afford college flipping a burger, that's not how it works, and somehow worked full time while doing college full time.

I worked full time, and I didn't go full time to school. I did go every single semester though, and it took six years. And did two years at a check community college then transferred credits over, because where you go to school means nothing, but where you graduate from can mean something.

Rushing through college gives you massive debt, so I didn't want that.

Most people that go to college, waste all their time and money buying things they don't need, partying, and in some cases fucking.

If you want to party, go to college. If you want to learn something, go to a library.

Plus, these days, everything is available for free on the web.

So all college is now, is a cubicle job certificate.

I regret doing the masters program. It’s been a waste the past 3 years. I could’ve had a lot less stress managing fulltime work and could’ve saved up a lot more money. I feel like it doesn’t even add much in terms of skills. The bachelors degree was worth it though.

College was a LOT cheaper back when I did it, so I got out with no debt. The prices today are insane.

Worked full time & college part time, 9 or 12 hours weekly. Employer paid 50% of college expenses including books. Took almost 7 years to graduate, then took a $10,000 CPA preparation class, and passed that. I worked in that field for about 15 years, then purchased a couple of retail stores that were cash flowing many thousands. Did that for about 10 years, the retired to a peaceful life in the rural Midwest raising livestock, gardening & remodeling houses to sell. College gave me useful financial tools but it was up to me how I applied them and the real money wasn't in being an accountant. It did open doors though.

Best to go to a community college then switch to a upper level university for last 2 to 4 years (bachelors/masters). Find a job that basically pays you to sit there most of the time. Those jobs are hard to find but it can be done. Library/security guard etc. I became a bridge tender on Miami Beach. I sat in a bridge house and opened the bridge when boats came through (every hour or so). The rest of the time I studied. The job paid shit but I was being paid to study 8 hrs a day. I made straight A's with a job like that Lol. Plus there were perks, if I let a yacht owner slip through during restricted periods I got a free cruise, a case of wine etc. And for some reason girls like to fuck in strange places, like a bridge house when boats are going through. Lol. Due to my grades I got grants every semester for keeping a GPA that high. But, I had to take student loans. I didn't go nuts but I took them. They weren't hard to pay back after graduation.

Don't go to college would be my advice Go to a trade school and learn a trade most if not all trades are recession/tough times proof. I know four people of the same age 25 three went to college and one went to a trade school guess who doesn't have crippling debt and is still growing their savings in the middle of a global pandemic?

Doing it now. Never signed up for the draft so I never get govt money for life. Work gives me tuition reimbursement. Plus grades put me in the honor society and gives me scholarships.

My first day on campus I walked into the Military Science department and inquired about scholarships. 3 days later I was in the Army.

Owed 4 years active duty after graduation, gave them 8.

Covered non-scholarahip expenses working at liquor stores and as club security because they trusted military students (and we got a lot of freebies).

Parents would have paid but I didn't want the strings attached to that. Would rather report to 6 CPTs, a MAJ and a LTC than the alternative.

Worked in my degree field for 13 years, but have been self-employed for the last 20 in a completely different field.

Went military route to top tech field, best decision ever for me, no debt, good training, have had lifelong career that enjoy, learned ownership, teamwork, ethics of hard work has always paid off

Have always spent less than reamed, saved and invested, never in debt except mortgage

The world is different but you can do well, learn new things, enjoy life and stay gyow.

United States Air Force. Paid for my BBA and a very large portion of my JD. Finished up with less than $2,000 in student debt. The first thing I did was pay that $2,000 off as fast as possible. I also worked during the day and went to school at night in some semesters and worked nights and attended school during the day when required. It can be done believe me. Just depends on how motivated and determined you are.

Was it worth it? I believe so. Enabled me to open my own private practice and work my way. It is much more difficult to do it this way but I enjoy the freedom this provides me.

Also, going to college just to get a degree in basket weaving or other degrees that are totally worthless is just plain stupid. My 2 sons are in the USAF now and I am trying to direct them to look at some of the technical schools when they get out. I know many people who are electricians, plumbers, and HVAC guys that make very good livings.

I paid and my dad paid. When i went tuition was about 1200 per semester if i remember correctly (Univ. in Texas). I worked while going to school at kroger as a cashier about 30 hours per week. I don't regret it at all, i don't miss all the hours of studying, though. Got BSMET, it was well worth it.

2 years community College, transfer into the best state school you can get into for your last 2 years. Work summers and part time throughout the year. I had maybe 12k of debt total that I had paid off within 5 years post graduation at an absurdly low interest rate
