I'm going to try to keep this brief. A little over three years ago, I made a baby with the craziest woman alive. After we split up, she started dating my (ex) best friend of 10 years, and kept my baby from me for a year and a half. When I finally got the money together and got through the legal proceedings, I got the shaft with a gradual custody order that made me have supervised visits for just a couple of hours a weekend, for no reason except for that my baby didn't know me well because she had been keeping her from me. I would over the next several months work my way to having her overnight every other weekend. They called CPS on me saying I was doing drugs, would be late when I showed up to pick up my daughter, and everything else they could do to make me miserable.

The first time I picked up my daughter, the visit was being supervised by my (ex) best friend's sister. I was in the back seat with my daughter trying to get her to say "daddy", when his sister turns around and says, "She doesn't know how to say daddy, she knows how to say Dada, tell her to say dada." What was left of me inside, died. This was the first time she'd seen me since she was just months old, how would she know how to say dada? She thought he was her dad, and in every other way besides biologically, he was her dad more than I was. I had already been extremely heavily depressed and started having panic attacks and severe anxiety over the situation. At this point, I just didn't want to live anymore. I felt so powerless and so fucked.

Our differences aside, I know that he is a good guy. He has since had 2 more children with her, and asked me if he could adopt my daughter. I agreed after much thought and talking with relatives, etc. I signed the papers and gave my daughter up for adoption.

Women get abortions all of the time, but that is "their right." Women give their children up for adoption all of the time, people commend them for "doing what is best for their child." Yet you should see the reaction I get out of anyone that I tell that doesn't know me and my situation well. Even once when I posted here on Men's rights I got attacked for giving up the rights to my daughter and being a 'dead beat'.

My daughter may one day wonder why I gave her up, and it may cause her slight emotional harm. However, she will have a more stable life sharing a father with her brothers and sisters and it will be all she has ever known. I have heard a lot of people talk about how they're glad they were adopted otherwise they would have never had the life they had. I hope this is what happens for her. If she comes looking for me one day, I would love to be there for her, and I'll hope she understands.

TLDR; Not every man that gives up his rights to his child is a piece of shit.
