Sounds great. I don't know if you are male or female, but it kinda sucks having to be the one to always initiate. It's not the same with sex; in my own experience my girlfriends have initiated even more than myself; but asking someone out is pretty tough. Every man here, unless he's Leonardo DiCaprio, will have suffered a rejection at some point. It's hard, but you pick yourself up and move on and try again. I honestly think that women could benefit from trying out male gender roles occasionally, and vice versa. Perhaps men do need to soften up a bit, but women also need to toughen up a bit.

Would you consider yourself a journalist? Then try to stay true to your craft and report as objective as possible. And if there are feminists protesting its a sexist event, report that there are feminist protesting because they think its a sexist event. And if there are opposing arguments to that report about that. Make sure everyone gets their fair voice in your reporting, so that your readers can chose themselfs.

Btw, I like the idea of that dance and I can't understand how someone could argue that it's sexist against women if its normaly the other way around. Maybe somebody can explain that to me.

I don't know the subreddits thoughts. I have a few for myself.

Who cares (in the sense that it's a real nonmatter in my mind)
If the genders were reversed it would also be called sexist by the same people.

It's a dance. It's a community fun-ish, opt in kind of thing.

You could say it is sexist against women because they have to choose.

You could say it is sexist against men because they have to be chosen.

And you could flip the script in any normal dance.

If there's one thing you take away from this: Relax, nobody gains if we're trigger happy on actual accusations.

Are people forced to attend? No? Then congratulations, you are writing a "fluff" piece. This means, simply, it's not the place to take a moralistic stand. Against misandry, misogyny, squirrels or even attack helicopters.
