I'm really interested in starting some sort of lobby group against circumcision, but I definitely need help with this. First and foremost, I have no idea where to really start. I was thinking of passing out brochures and putting up posters and things like that around town, to rally up some supporters, and then kind of hammer out some sort of hierarchy from there. For instance, I'm not a good public speaker, either because I don't enunciate well, or I tend to mumble, so it would be very beneficial to find people who would be willing to be the public face for the group. I'm also not a lawyer, and have no idea what sort of legislation should be written in order to change circumcision laws, so again, it would be beneficial to get a couple of these guys on board. So on and so forth with these types of things until all of the bases are covered.
I'm only 19, and I'm really just spit-balling here, but the Men's Rights Movement is very important to me. I hold it near and dear to my heart; however, I feel as if a lot of so-called MRA's are perfectly content with sitting on their thumbs when it comes to tried and true activism. I don't think anything is truly going to change unless we get out and about and make ourselves heard.
I think Anti-Circumcision would be a fairly easy thing to tackle, especially when compared to issues like selective service, child support, and alimony. I understand circumcision is technically a religious thing, but so is a lot of anti-abortion campaigns. My thinking is that if we were to model ourselves (and yes, I would like for this to eventually become national) after Pro-Choice groups with a, "His body, his choice" campaign, we should be able to sway quite a few people, as evidenced by pro-choice legislation being passed in many states.
Anyways, what do you guys think? Would this work? Any advice you can give? Like I said, I think this could really take off if we model ourselves after Pro-Choice abortion activism. If we could have a bunch of different groups throughout the US campaigning in their individual states and then once a year meet up for a March on Washington (like almost every civil rights movement has done), we could at least get some traction going.
With any luck, there's be some success on our part, and we could use that success to open dialogs on other Men's Rights issues.
Any feedback whatsoever would be great. You can e-mail me at [email protected]. I'd really like to hear from people who have experience in protesting or organization especially.
The thing that really set me off as wanting to do this was my Internet search for Anti-circumcision groups. One of the first things that came up was this pile of shit:

The good thing is that there are already groups set up that will help you with anti-circumcision activism. Check out Intact America. Their website has informational flyers that you can download and print, and then hand out to people.
I don't know if you can say that "I'm a member of Intact America" or associate your activism with them. But I think that if you could, it would be good to associate with a larger group like that. Their website is professionally done, it's a non-profit, and they have medical professionals on their boards.
